Hi.
My I30 auto diesel is about to have 4 year service / mot.
Anyone know at what point i.e. thickness of pads left should be replaced or recommended by dealers?
Mileage is 37K by the way most on motorways and have only recently renewed front tyres for winter.
I tend to be fairly gentle on brakes but some people say you need to brake hard regularly to remove rust / corrosion
on discs !

New pads 11mm,  absolute pad limit 2mm according to workshop manual.

Regarding brake application pressure, I have only heard of heavy applications used in racing to bring brakes up to temperature. I don't think it applies to standard vehicles. Rust is removed even with light applications of braking.
