Hi all, well i was in Sydney for a few day's & before heading home down the coast, i brimmed my tank. went into a BP & they had the Ultimate Diesel. this is first time i've ever seen it in NSW. well so far all i've noticed as no throth at all on fill up so much faster to fill to top. with Caltex Vortex it was low throth not that much throth & easier to fill quick than the normal diesel. the motor runs nice on it but so far have not notched anything different. this 6 speed is not as fussy with fuel as my first 5 speed was. just thought i'd mention it.

Lakes surprised BP has taken so long to introduce Ultimate over there,we have had it for a few years, well I know for 26 months for sure, because this is how old Cyril is,I have always used the ultimate, until the vortex come out,I haven't had it varified but I believe the cars run better, cleaner and your get far more milage, the reason Ino longer use Ultimate is because of the price, here we pay a premium for the Vortex, between 4 and 6 cents, well BP wants a higher premium than that, they actually want another 4-5 cents on top of the Vortex price.

When we bought Firty, the dealer at Medindie recommended BP Ultimate and I've had very little to sway me to go elsewhere. I get tankfuls at the HiFlow pumps (no froth even at that speed) at the BP on South Rd near the Torrens Rd corner and it's consistently cheaper than anywhere else including Caltex. :goodjob:

Yeah but we have always found SA has cheap fuel. But wouldn't shift back there just because of that,Sue actually made me an offer(no not that ya dirty minded buggers)she has said I could have the MotorCycle of my choice if we where to move back to SA and that's not even enough to get me back there permanently

Hey Rick, yes took us a long time to get Ultimate Diesel here in NSW. i think its to do with where our BP diesel comes from? but i knew it was in WA first then outer states, Caltex Vortex has been here for a long time as Betsy my 1st FD CRDi ran on that from the time it was released. i did economy tests and no gain in economy. but it performed better & seemed to like running on it better.
but after the gent? posted about not useing cleaner as a diesel mechanic told him it wears the fuel pump.
BP just tell you what they want, there claim is keeps injectors clean free of deposit's so thats good as any restriction in fuel flow on a diesel would probably effect performance . i'm not saying it could make the car perform better but would or should keep it performing like if had injection cleaned. but if its not lubricating the fuel pump as well. but all i'm doing is guessing . i don't think i've ever seen anatyone post they had fuel pump wear out yet. we have had injectors go ( big money ! ) but not fuel pump. what you need to find out is what they have replaced the throaty detergent with? if the replacement is good on pump seals or bad. the old dirty diesel lubricated the pumps better i think.
i'll just drive wendy till she drops or i drop ( death do us part )  :D

When BP Ultimate first came out in the UK, I did some sums to check the 'extra mileage' claims.  Yes it did give me more miles per tank than regular diesels, but it was also more expensive so in practice you broke even.  All it did was extend your range on a tankful.  That may be useful if you have long distances between fill-ups, but otherwise it isn't worth going out of your way for.  Nowadays most diesels in the UK contain detergent additives to clean the crud out of the engine.

Would you be able to wrap your body around a sports bike these days, Rick?

Perhaps you should go for the Boss Hoss, at least you'd be used to the handling after driving trucks.... :whistler:
