First American customers take ownership of ‘Rear-drive thunder from Down Under’ – the re-badged Chevrolet SS.

Holden's crucial export program for the VF Commodore has got off to a promising start, with the first shipment of Chevrolet SS sedans driving out of North American dealerships this week.

The initial shipment of Chevy SS sedans has landed in the US, going on sale at dealerships around the country for $44,470 ($46,850 AUD) plus local taxes.

And the Australian-built four-door has so far received glowing praise from the Northern Hemisphere. Several new owners have already taken to forums to express their content with the new model, essentially a left-hand-drive version of Holden’s VF SS-V Commodore.

I'm not surprised NustyRutz TBH! It looks cool!

Seriously... Have you seen the rubbish American car design houses churn out?

Thats freaking amazing, funny how the Yanks get to pay a mere $47,000 and for us the buy the same car here without any export cost would be close to $65-75,000,with the incredible wages nd conditions they pay their workers(or should I say us tax payers)no wonder the company is going Arse up.

 any market will charge and expect to get whatever the buyers are prepared to pay!

There's no justice or fairness inside real Market forces, never has been, otherwise life saving medicine would be dirt cheap don't you think?

Petrol prices keep rising.

GMH to delete V8 vehicles in Australlia, soon, due to declining sales.

GMH export V8 vehicles to the US.

V8 too small, so fit Larger one.

Workers here could lose jobs due to sales downturn.

Cars allocated in US, based on sales Quota system.

US want more, can't get enough of 'em.

Yes, we get ripped off here, no doubt.
Manufacturers will always charge what they can in any particular market.
Nothing quite like a rear wheel drive V8 though.  :D

Whilst I don't know, I suspect the Government money requires some form of export. Hence they are happy to send them over there and sell them at a loss, just to keep the flow of money going.
