So, the car is two weeks old with 1600 km on the clock and no problems....... Until this afternoon.

We'd driven a few miles and the car was up to temperature when my wife went to get on the motorway. She had to make some speed to join the traffic when the engine started to throw a wobbly. Change ups weren't going Well, revs were all over the place, going up to 3500, then straight back to 2700, then up again, down again, quite scary.
So, stopped the car, turned it off, wanted a few minutes and tryed again ....... Same thing, so we limped into a village and it stemde to correct itself.

Back to the motorway and it started to play up again. Once again stopped on the motorway. I changed places with the wife and . It just felt like the engine didn't want to (or couldn't) go over 3500 revs.
Anyway, i coaxed the car onto the motorway, changing round the 3000 revs and got up to speed and sixth gear.  Finished the journey 70 km later.

I have no idea what this could have been, but i expect the car to be able to accelerate above 3500 revs.

Any ideas ?

No lights or warning sounds, just the impressions of being in a emotie controller car, driven by a five year old.

BTW.... What's limp home mode?

Your Check Engine Light should light up and the car will refuse to rev above I think 3000rpm, sort of like a failsafe mode if the engine picks up anything wrong

I can't solve SA Dave's problem either.
But it highlights a concern I have,  which I was discussing with my son and daughter yesterday.

Technology is IMHO, getting out of control.

Whilst the car is relatively new, it's all wonderful.  However,  the current crop of vehicles is going to be old before long. And by old I mean between 5 and 10 years old.

Which means things like the EPS, power window and remote central locking actuators will fail with more regularity.  We've already heard horror tales about the difficulties of access and costs associated with these sorts of things.

Fine if you can trade in every 5 years,  but what about the people who then buy our car asva second handy?

A bit scary.

Very True Trevor.. Like I said before, the thought of a Power steering failure outside warranty was one of the reasons I traded Trish's CW!

My point exactly.
But you don't need to go back that far.
Anything more than 5 years old and not a super expensive model is eady enough to work on.
It may well come to that for me but I worry about my kids.

Right, are you all sitting comfortably ? Then i'll begin.......

Took the car to the local mall about 20 Miles away, nearly all motorway. Filled up with petrol (Total euro 95) before i left.

Gatting on to the motorway i took her to 4000 revs, changed to forth, up to 4000, changed to fifth,up to 4000, changed to sixth.

No problems.

On the way back did the same, no problems. I even took the car up to 150+ kph (95 mph) and she performed as she should.

So..... Maybe it was a fuel think, although i wonder why it took almost a tank full of petrol before the problem manifested itself.

Anyway, that got me thinking....... A few years back i was on the Goldwing in England and i filled up at a BP station, about 30 miles down the road the bike wouldn't go faster than 65 mph and sounder like a randy bison. I later filled up at a Texaco place and the problem went away.

Now, i always used to fill up in England with the Dodge at a 1 BP station on the motorway but then only at Morrisons and a Shell station on the way back.

This last trip i filled up at 2 BP stations on the motorway.

Go figure !!!!! Do BP have a reputation for bad fuel (high ethanol, tar, HP sauce)?

Moral of the story....... Don't buy petrol from BP. (In England)

Bit of a jump to a conclusion there. BP don't generally have a bad reputation, and many would say they are one of the best places to fill up. (Although I use Tesco and have no issues).

My guess would be you have a loose wire or fault sensor somewhere (crankshaft speed perhaps).
