Hi guys. Took the 2 month old FD into the dealership today and left her for an overnight stay (due to our time constraints) after using the washers on the front windshield and noticing water on the rear window. I then used the rear and it was spraying the front as well. Both front and rear washer switches operate both at once. The guy at the service department had never heard of it before.

Anyone got any idea what would cause this in a new car?

Yep.

It'll be caused by H2O finding it's way to both jets  :winker:

Sounds like the pump needs replacing (I've had 3 pumps so far)

A shortcircuit in the pump, expect it to be the same pump feeding both front and rear, or shortcircuit in the switch..

I have the problem that it won't spray on the windscreen sometimes, but it usually gets to work again. Will have to take a look at the connections at the pump.  :disapp:

I have for some time ago actually experienced same problem as you, when spraying the windshield, it also sprayed the rear window, so very curious to hear what the solution is.

Was fixed very quickly. None of the guys in the workshop had seen it before. The pump was replaced under warranty and I got a free wash as well.

I have to say that the Hyundai warranty is the best I have dealt with before. We have had 3 Hyundai in the past few years and have never had any issues with warranty repairs, even when the things I was claiming were clearly not faulty but broken. ;-)

Thanks for feeding back on this, Aaron, and glad it's all sorted for you :)

Seems to be a weak point, even in 2012 models, this pump of ours :( When mine was diagnosed as being the culprit for not spraying anything at the rear, it was replaced with one that didn't spray anything front or rear. So I'm on my 3rd pump.

Come on pump-makers, get your act together!
