Whilst looking around on the Hyundai website today I noticed that the new 2011 i30 model is being advertised:

http://www.hyundai.co.uk/newCars/i30/2011/

Scant details at present unfortunately. I wonder whether they will all now come with ISG?

That website needs a lot of work! Looks like 5 minutes of effort went into making that extra page.

ISG remains an optional extra I believe. I wonder what they will call cars they make in 2011?

Does the 'Eco Drive' indicator tell you what gear to use? I've noticed Hondas and Citroens have a number that lights up on the dash.

I recently noticed a similar feature on a Toyota I was riving and it was trying to tell me  when to change up.

From the i30 estate features

All manual transmission models benefit from an Eco Drive Indicator which suggests the best time to change gear, helping you drive more efficiently.

so you need to pretty much keep glancing at the dash to make sure you change gears on time to save fuel.

Unless you are LiamKC, in which case the display would probably reflect on the windscreen

On the (other make) I drove it was quite bright and easiy noticeable from peripheral vision. However anyone that needs one of these  "to drive economically" just doesn't understand how to drive econimically. It's just a gimmick.

The best way to learn to drive economically is to buy a bicycle. Riding a bike teaches you the skill instinctively. (not using brakes unless really necessary, right gears, not labouring, coasting, draughting, tyre pressures, lubrication, aerodynamics blah blah). Of course if you stay on the bike the MPG is very good.

I noticed it states new interior styling (top right) so I wonder what that will look like.

There are some interior shots on the link previously posted on the "New i30u" discusion.

The leather seats make me think it is a premium version.
I can not see any major changes.

It said somewhere the colour had gone from the seat fabrics (I have a little red in mine) and they are all black now.

If there is one criticism I've got of the interior of the current model it is that it needs a lift with a bit of contrasting stitching or something...

I sort of agree, although I fell in love with a black car, with totally black interior, black leather with black stitching, black carpets and black mats. And would you believe it (wish I'd had a pic taken) I collected Fergie in a black suit with black tie and matching black tiepin and cufflinks; even my cig lighter was black.

Yes the gear change indicator does tell you which gear you should be in along with a triangle to indicate if it is a shift up or down in gear.

I drove a new Honda Jazz a week ago (only 120 miles on the clock), it also has that feature but was cr*p

It would tell you to change up, then when you had it said change down again. No matter how hard I tried even on the flat and level with the lightest touch on the throttle.

It seems to be fairly stable in turns of changing up or down.  It does seem to advise 4th gear when you get up to about 29 mph.

If when slowing down you change down too quickly (or skip a gear) it will advise going up  a gear
until the revs have come down.

When accelerating it seems to advise the next gear up almost as soon as you have changed up.

Also as soon as you start the car moving it advises changing to 2nd gear.
