So the i30 is a very good lookin' car, but does it have the brains to follow??

I've noticed a few little "things" I guess, that should have been added to the cars system. Little things that should happen when something else happens ... let me give some examples:

- Heated seats
The car has heated seats? Check
The car can detect when someone is sitting on a seat? Check
So why is it the car leaves the heated seats running when the passenger leaves the car?
Again it's only a minor thing, but it's something that should just happen ...

- Welcome home lights
The car has headlights? check
The car can detect when a door is closed or open? check
So why is it the car starts the timer on the auto off light feature when the drivers door is shut, even tho I'm half hanging out the back door dragging the grocerys out?
The car should start the timer once all the doors a either shut, or even after you have pressed to lock.

- Sunroof auto close
The car has a sunroof? check
The car has a gps? check
The car has a interface for user configuration? check
So why is there no feature that closes the sunroof automatically as I pull up in the driveway at home, or work?

I have many more to add but I can't remember them atm, I've been wanting to create a thread about this for a while.

I can see where you are coming from.. but even dearer cars like my new one have quirks like that.

For example mine will lock the doors when I get out to fuel up the car. It should be able to detect that I have the fuel filler cap open. I can just press a button on my back door handle to unlock it so I can close the fuel flap after, but owners of lesser models have to hunt for their key...

My Sunroof closes as soon as I turn the engine off which is a bit of a pain as sometimes if I am waiting in the car, I would like to keep it open without wasting fuel...

Some of my cars auto functions can be adjusted via menus but not all... :undecided:

I like your points, VaerO. You should develop a chip to bring all of these features to the car. :victory:

I remember traveling form Adelaide to Brisbane in 1963 in an FB Holden. 4 Adults, 2 kids in the car, no heater, no demister, vinyl seats and we used the ESSO screen wipes to clear the condensation off the windscreen at night.

 :scared:

PS and vacuum operated windscreen wipers, too.
