I took my car into the dealership yesterday regarding the following warranty claims:

(a) "Slack" in the driveline when decelerating and accelerating, which can be felt rather than heard;

(b) Intermittent difficulty in selecting 3rd & 4th gear ratios when changing up. 99% of the time it's fine, but a few times I have had this happen so thought I would report it;

(c) Plastic on plastic glovebox rattle at highway speeds.

The result of sitting for two and a half or three hours was this:

(a) No fault found.  :rolleyes:

(b) No fault found.

(c) Glovebox removed, supposedly re-aligned and refitted. I now have the rattle at low speeds as well as higher speeds.

I knew it would be a waste of time and I was right.

Being a female who knows zilch about cars (stereotype-I am one :P) I don't quite get what you mean by slack? This makes me curious as I've noticed with mine, when it's cold and slightly uphill, I'll put my foot on the accelerator and it sort of misses and doesn't pick up. I have to press it harder than usual to get the car going. Once it's warm I don't seem to have the same problem. Husband says he hasn't noticed but like I said somewhere else, I generally drive more than he does.

That's not what I'm talking about in my car. Mine is when you are travelling at, for example, 60 km/h and you lift the foot off the accelerator, you cab "feel" a thump and then when you re-apply the accelerator you feel it again.

I can't remember, I'm sorry, the configuration of your car. Is it a petrol or diesel, manual or auto?

Ahh, no not the same. I keep wondering if I'm imagining it seeing as it's always the same corner and only when the car is cold (it's always the same corner though because that's the first place I need to stop that's on a slope whenever I go anywhere).

I have the petrol model, auto :)

It doesn't sound serious at all, but maybe just tell your dealership so it's recorded in case it develops into a problem.

That's because you've given her a credit card.
Where wife = w, c = credit card, h = happiness and d = disaster, the formula is:
w+c=d-h every time.  :lol:

What you're describing just sounds like a cold engine. I always have to drive up a hill after leaving my house and whenever the engine is cold, it feels like it has half the power it normally has and you need to give it more throttle and rev harder to get adequate performance.

I've always assumed it to be cold engine oil, which is thicker and less lubricating, hence increased friction which translates to less power, until the engine has warmed and the oil is thinner.

Dave, you just confirmed that my feelings about that particular dealership  were spot on. Useless bunch at best of times.

Your "slack" sounds a lot like what I get in my car if I drop the clutch (when in motion, almost speed irrelevent) and when I'm in too high a gear for the speed. I know it's not exactly the same but still... I always have to slip the clutch a little when shifting to make it butter smooth. If I don't, I get the "slack". Next time we meet up maybe we should drive each other's cars, more eyes see more and the driver can be ruled out from the equasion ( I mean me not you, I didn't do the training you have unfortunately )

Regarding the glove box, I would try a little bit of self adhesive foam to keep the lid tight. I have had gloveboxes needing that treatment on other makes, worked every time.

²
°

Use the alt key, hold it down and type 0178 for the ²
and 0176 for the °
after the lst numeral, let the alt key go and the character  you want will appear.

Also 0188 = ¼
0189 = ½
0190 = ¾
0247 = ÷
