I'm devastated.  :scared:

I decided to abandon my 10% speed reduction for the last week.  :sweating:

I drove at the speed limits across the full range from 40 to 90 km/hr.

My well established 4.1 L/100Km is now ...

I have pumped up my tyres to 38 psi, and I am now getting 4.7 l/100km (I was on 5.0).

I still think that is pretty good for hilly southern Tasmania!!

Good move, Jamie. My minimum is 38 and I often do 40. Perhaps that's part of my happy figure!  :D

Not to mention that Adelaide is so flat you can watch your dog run away for three days (particularly out North towards Edinburgh).

There's definitely that to add to the equation.

It's also a valid reflection on real estate choices between the services:
Army - near population centres - city!
Navy - near the ocean - beachfront!
Air Force - space for airstrips - where nobody would want to live!

Never thought of it that way Gonz.

What does that say about me, living in the bush, way out past the Army testing grounds the other side of Murray Bridge?  Occasionally I hear the guns thudding in the distance on a clear still day.

Nah, you're far enough from the big smoke to reset the argument.  :goodjob: Let me know when you start to think you can smell Napalm and we'll talk

WHAT!?? I'm in a diesel Manual and my lowest so far is 5.4 L/100Km and it's been a long time since I achieved that figure!

Gonz usually really gets 5.1 but he gives himself one off for good behaviour.

You wish! The figure is genuine and there's no good behaviour to be seen.

well your all woosers on the throttle,I can't on a regualar basis get under 6-6.4 I must learn to slow down, having the two hats on the parcel shelf hasn't worked  yet, maybe I should get lighter work boots as well, mind you our relaxing round trip from Perth(or just outside)to Hervey bay and back our overall average was 3.9,since then it has been up in the high fives low sixes

I put it down to a combination of flat terrain, little stop/start traffic, very conservative speed and even more conservative acceleration, high tyre pressure and constant monitoring of the economy figure. I often wonder whether my turbo ever gets a chance.  :whistler:

Phil Oh! Yes I can do it,but as I have said many many times before in different threads,I'm not that patient and even at low sixes, still miles ahead of what I used to drive,$85 in Bruce to do 1400k's  and $96 in Cyril to do the same seems pretty good to me
