I’ve read some similar experiences about faulty caliper pins on this forum. Seems like it’s my turn. Rear right brake has just started making metal on metal grinding noise. Was happening intermittently in the last few weeks and has just become worse. Dropped in to my local mechanic this morn and he says the pads look fine.

Car is booked in for inspection at Hyundai next week, and until then, is parked and hire car acquired for the week.

Hoping it’s covered under standard extended warranty inclusions.

What age is your car? Is it the FD version with parking brake shoes inside the rear brake disc/drum? If so, and there is metal-metal rubbing but the pads are ok, it could be the brake shoe linings are down to the metal. Usually caused by the handbrake lever at the wheel seizing up so the brake shoe doesn't pull off as the handbrake is released. The friction lining then gets worn away until down to bare metal.
