Hello its worry wart me again

Just a quick question! Whenever I press the stop start button to turn the engine off the car sometimes (usually) makes a funny high pitched squeal noise. I can't really tell where its coming from... Sounds like the engine bay but it might be the brakes as it sort of sounds simmer to the electric brakes when they apply but a higher pitched version. The noise isn't loud but you can hear it clearly without trying... I may take video and see if I can record it. As far as I can remember the cars always made the noise but I just assumed it was normal, I just thought it was the noise of the engine dying.

Any thoughts?

Nope nothing on start up, does that rule out loose belts?

My FD used to whine a little when I first turned the key (from cold) and it also whined for a few seconds when I turned the engine off (lift the bonnet under both circumstances and you may hear yours doing the same). I was advised at the time (can't remember where it was posted) that the fuel pressure valve had to release a certain proportion of the tension. Normal, is what I was told.

The noise is normal from what I can tell, it's always been there and a very low level squeal when the engines turned of for about 10/15 seconds.

As Shambles mentioned I think it related to the fuel pressure regulator releasing pressure.

So your GD does it to Graig?

Thanks guys that puts my mind the ease. I was never really worried about it but I thought I should double check.  :goodjob2:

My GDH does it too, albeit a little less noticeable than my FD. Quit worrying and have a beer ;)

GDH?

Yep. The 2014 GD models are being referred to by GDH or GD(H), so I read somewhere.

EDIT: it is also in my log book (V5C UK registration document).
