We had to travel from Toowoomba to Katoomba for a wedding over the weekend, so drove the i30 down via the father-in-law at Raymond Terrace.  There were four of us in the car, and we had the air conditioner on for the whole trip.  We covered 1840km in four days and averaged 5.4 l/100km, so we were extremely happy.  I can also recommend Thunderbolt Way from Uralla to Gloucester, for those wanting a quicker way than the New England Highway (and a lot more scenic).
