I was given the same advice when I prepared my Groom's speech at my wedding 3 years ago. My speech was a bit unusual because I did the whole thing in rhyming verse. People were too fascinated by the poetry to even notice it went on far too long.

I worked in banks for 19 years (don't hold that against me) and was one of the first to get a video camera (and know how to use it properly) so I got asked to video my co-workers weddings.. after 7 or 8, I retired.. (I got sick of the speeches and the same old jokes...) But your speech was a beauty
