One morning the sat nav system popped up an error and the MAP, NAV and (i) button just didn't work anymore. Nothing happens when I press the AGREE button.

The radio, media, bluetooth and other buttons are still working fine.

Seems the navigation "module" crashed or something. I tried restarting the unit using the pin reset at the upper left corner to no avail. I also tried disconnecting the battery and fuse for the media system (MULTIMEDIA) but the problem still persisted.

Here are some photos:

Any ideas?

I'd disconnect overnight, if no joy on reconnect, off to the dealer.

I'll bet it's running Windows CE too  typical.

Try holding the pin reset in for 30 seconds while it's all powered up.

Have they observed it in its "stuck" state or are they taking your word for it...?

If the latter, it suggests they are aware of an existing issue with these units. Either way a replacement is great news.

Hi jobski, just wondering if you have got the SatNav unit replaced and how is it going?  A similar problem has just happened on mine and I want to know what to expect.

Thanks.

Where is this PIN reset that is spoken of???

Maybe that will solve my missing voice files problem?

Jim.

Replaced! That is a big jump, I expected they would just change the internal SD card.

A bit late reply but yes they replaced my unit in less than an hour. Its good as new and it works the way it should.

I don't know what I've done before but I remember fiddling around with logging settings for the nav. Right now I refrain from doing so as it might happen again, but I will be waiting for a software update.

Sorry for the late reply.  I called Hyundai Helpline and they got my dealer to book me in to look at the Sat Nav next week.  Funny thing though is the Sat Nav fixed itself after I didn't drive the car for 2 days after the software crash.  I am now a bit freaked out to touch anything out of ordinary.

BTW, can I ask what version of software and maps that you guys have on your i30?

My SatNav has failed as well.  Shows the error message and won't go past the "Agree" button.  Dealer has had a look and has ordered a replacement unit from Melbourne.  Hope it lasts more than 3 weeks!

Same problem for me now i.e. cant get passed the 'agree' screen then, radio and media player still works fine.  Have tried reset to factory settings .. anything else I can try (dealer says they'll replace but will take a week and a half)

I took my 3 week old Premium I30 for the complimentary service yesterday. Driving home I noticed that it was on the radio screen - I always have the map visible. Push the button  - nothing! Tried the Sat Nav button and the i button - nothing. The radio, media and phone are all ok. Took it straight back to the dealer who informs me that it is a very common problem and that it is at least a 4 week wait (I am in Melbourne). He also told me not to complain to Hyundai because they would source an old replacement and 'it would just do it again'. I told him I was not really impressed to having no clock (because it is trying to sync with my GPS!) or sat nav for the next 4 weeks- he basically said - that's life! You don't expect that on a brand new car I replied and he said it costs Hyundai over $5000.00 to replace one unit. Not that that is really my concern. Very disappointed.  :(

Welcome to the forum Schravs,

Sorry to hear about your problem. I assume it was working when you arrived for your "service". I wonder what they did to break it. Keep us posted and I hope your association with the brand, improves in the future. Most of us here, have very little to complain about.  :(

Edit,

Have you thought of contacting another dealer to verify that 4 weeks is the norm. They may be telling porkies.

It's not an physical SD Card that can be removed.  It's built in to the board on the computer that is in the head unit.  Some members of the Veloster forum opened their units up and had a look.

Have any of those with issues tried resetting the head unit (and I don't mean through the menu system).  There is a small button on the left top of the unit and you need to use a small pointed object to press it in.

Someone asked what the head unit details are.  Here are ours:

Software Version : 9.2.0.5
OS Version : 15E120307
NNG_Map Version : 8.5.11.275416
Factory Map Version : AUSNZ12Q3
BT Version : 3.0.7
Firmware Version: 6.0.11_M_GD_3_0

Oh damn it..
Just got the same problem as others here.
The car is only 2 weeks old and I cant get past the agree page.
GPS NAV not working. Clock is not working as well. Took it to the dealer this morning and after about an hour, they said they cant fix the problem.
For some reason the map had been deleted all together. Strange. They have tried to rebuild the map twice and it has failed.
They have now ordered a complete new unit for replacement. Not sure when it will arrive.
Hopefully soon. 1st Service is due on the 2nd of Sept.. So hopefully by then.
Although the car is nice, its quite disappointing at the moment. Service however has been so far good.

The problem is that the unit drops the maps, do a version check and you will find no map files.

The dealer can reload the maps, they seem to stick the second time around.

The dealers seem to be making a point to "H" by sending the whole unit back every time there is a problem, I figure because of the grief they get about all the software shortfalls.

I did a version check before bringing it into the dealer.. and there was no MAP found.
After they have tried to fix it, the map is loaded and the version can be found.
But it cannot go past the agree button.
Factory reset does not help.. and the pin reset also does not help..

Got a SMS from the dealer and been advised the unit is in.
Will be bringing the car in tomorrow morning to get it exchanged.
Apparently a good 1 hr, so I will be waiting around at the show room I guess.

Will report back tomorrow what happens.

Ok.. Just got the car back today.
They fitted a brand new unit.
It is all working fine now.
I think I know what I did wrong. Although I don't think the Navi system should die like that any way.
I went into the Navi setting and went into update.
I thought the update was for the traffic updates and stuff. I'm quite baffled as how can it cause issues like this? how is it so easily accessible?
There was no warning message or anything. So folks, that is a no go zone.

Just for information wife has a three week old i40 Premium work vehicle.

Went in to Dealer for 1500 klm service with the sat nav working. They attempted to update software in the unit. Result sat nav not working. Symptoms as described in this thread.

Dealer is quoting a four week wait for replacement unit. Wife completely unimpressed.

My research indicates lots of these units giving problems across the range.
