Would 18" x 8" with 5x114PCD 42 offset fit my i30? Would the wheels stick out too far outside or inside? Pics to follow as I'm on my phone.

Anything over 7" is a waste would be too wide in my opinion.. If they fitted (unlikely) would compromise your turning circle etc... :fum:

according to rims&tires calculator a width of rims would be 4cm wider as compared with 5x16 40ET

meehalych - i'm very sorry but I dont understand what that means...

Dazz - unfortunately the design I like isn't in 7" width. Don't really care much about turning circle as I mainly drive around the city and rarely do U-turns. Is 8" too wide for the i30? Think I should get something with 7" or 7.5"?

If you guys dont like that EVO one, then how about this one ->http://www.enkei.com/raijin.shtml

I still don't know if these can fit. I'm not able to understand the offset thing. I just want it flush to almost flush with the wheel well so it's not terribly "inside and tucked in".

Ok, I was wrong, the rims would fit (even 19" would do)

18" diameter isn't the problem. It is the width of 8". I repeat, I wouldn't recommend anything over 7" wide.

It's not that we don't like the evo. AS you can see there are similar wheels with maybe more choice in width. Even at 7" I think you will still need spacers (but not sure where you get those)

The wheel and Tyre places SHOULD be able to help you with what will safely fit and what wont...

Dazz - do you mean that 8" is too wide and will possibly hit the suspension? Unfortunately I can neither get the Enkei Raijin or the Evo wheels in 7". I can only get them in 8". I'm making sure of this on this forum because I'm going to order the Enkei Raijin online (I much prefer the Raijin) through tire rack.

I can get the Raijin in 18x8 5x114.3 with 40 or 45 offset. If you think I'm gonna need spacers, then I'll go with the 40. If not, then I'll go with the 45 offset (and if it doesn't clear, then I will use spacers). I think the 45 offset is a much "safer" option to go.

My next problem after getting 18" wheels is that I will need to lower my suspension to get a better stance. Anyone know of a good supplier for lowering springs? If I can swing it, i'd rather get a full coilover suspension maybe from Bilstein (any coilover available for the i30?)

I love these wheels.
They're similar to the ones on the MS Design i30s (as seen on our home page).
They really suit the car IMO.

In all honesty jfd. I think the consensus is that 8" won't fit.
That's definitely my view. You might be lucky but you need to realise, that none of us have experience with that size wheel so it's all guesswork. You need to make a decision s to whether or not to risk your money and hope they fit, or not.

Take the advice of the experts.
I don't understand wheel offsets etc so I can't help you.
I just know they look nice.
Maybe take a look at exactly what MS Design fir to their cars as they modify GD i30s.

Maybe the GD and New model Ceed cope with wider wheels than the FD .. I was almost certain 8" was too wide for the FD (which is what JF has got, I think) :undecided:

Hemmi would know.

I think Steve Jnr (2i30s) Runs 18" and so did Eyma Teapot and a few others, but I thought they were only 7" or 7.5"

challenge accepted, but I know I will be defeated  :)

More info taken from Russian elantra club - the thread contains the acceptable rims and tires dimensions for Elantra j4 (HD) and i30:
18"
width: 7J - 8J
ET: 35 - 48

19"
width: 8J - 8.5J
ET: 35 - 48

DIA: 67.1

Looks like he fitted the 8.5's to the rear. Looks like a snug fit if I go with the ET45 on the Raijin.

I'm going to work out how to get the Enkeis here in the Philippines now.
