Phil, I think John is talking globes (BC or ES) not a tube. The Compact Fluros and LED will flicker in a sensor light or dimmable light fitting. (I use Halogen 28w conventional globes in them) or you can use expensive $30 dimmable LED's

John, if you want Warm White LED they are fairly cheap at Woolworths. I prefer Cool white (daylight) and they are cheapest at Bunnings (or on ebay if you shop around)

5w = about 40w and 9w = 60w roughly (but it varies with brands) I have replaced about 80% of the lights in our house with LED (all but the ones we seldom use)  :happydance:

Thanks Dazz, the light switch is an adjustable type. notice with fluro it does not change in brightness. so what type LED globes? i've got a floor lamp that has LED globe &it's great, even has a switch on side of globe & can run on its own without power for about one hour. i used it once when power was turned off while the worked on power lines. but its a screw in fitting. i need standard type light fitting.

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't use fluoros with a dimmer switch.
That might be the problem.

That's what I said  :whistler:

You can get ones (Fluro and LED) that work with dimmer switches but they are about double the cost. Larger Leading Edge electrical stores have them (Bunnings probably does too - we don't have any dimmer switches)

Hopefully they are available in ES (Edison screw) and BC (bayonet cap) which appears to be what you need John.

I will Google for them and add a link to this post if I find any.

Here you go $23.25 each (but last a life time) Choice of BC & ES.. Beacon and other probaly have them too but heaps dearer I suspect!

9W LED AND ES Globes Dimmable OR NON DIM 2 Year Australian Warranty | eBay

Edit: you can pay $180 for one globe if you don't shop around!!!

Yes I did Rusty, immediately thought of the old type and raved on about totally unnecessary stuff, so I axed it.

Thanks Phil...
Deleting posts can be tricky, especially when following posts make reference to it, maybe there could be a message left in its place saying the post has been deleted???  Or perhaps the option to remove could be removed once someone has replied???  :undecided:

It's just that I've been on forums where someone has cracked a wobbly and deleted all their posts, making many threads an utter shambles to try to read.....

Just something for Admin to think about maybe?  :undecided:
