Well probably more tyre than my little oiler need's,
but i went to get some Energy tyres, and the guy said, he could get some Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on a special to suit my SLX wheels.
will pick them up at the end of the week, as busy week & if its dry i'm racing for two days this weekend.
would have been good if Trev was still here to see what he thinks. but good to see him going away & enjoying himself.
Cheers

sounds good man! im not really up to it with tyres!

if you do track work, why dont you invest in a set of semi slicks? just for track work? that will help your times quite a bit!

or even at the bottom of the field a set of falken RT615's? not quite semi slick so you can use them on the road!

John races bikes .. ( not his i30 )

If it is not too rude a question John what sort of $ per tyre for something like that on special

I used michelin pilot (primacy) for about 6 years on my old car and was very happy with them. I think the sports will be very grippy, but will probably not last as long as the stock tyres.

Lorian, Dazz is right, i should have mentioned that.
Dazz, they are not a cheap tyre but $40 off per tyre seemed ok $200 each.
they are supposed to a good steering tyre, good wet weather braking tyre.
Just have to wait and see, but they look good  ( too an old guy )

I have used the Pilot Sport 2's in the past on an Impreza WRX, Superb all round tyre and looked as though they would last quite well given the weight and AWD system, hope the PS3's are an improvement on them. (Unlike when Bridgestone went from the Potenza SO2's which suited the characteristics of the scoob, to the SO3's which most users on the forum I used to frequent thought were a backward step!)

Looks as though you did well on the price, the last set I bought was about 4 years ago, and 4 PS2's in 225/40 18 were £660 fitted, and by the looks of things it would be a similar price for the PS3's. Shame bit pricey as I will be needing another set soon for the i30 in 225/40 18 size. May have to stick another set of Falken FK912's on, only cost £360ish.

I have always liked Michelin (and Pirelli) goes back to the days of my Fiat 128 3P and the cars my Stepdad used to sell in his car yard.. In those days they were a bit noisy but used to hang on really well and last a long time (funny how old feelings stay with you)

I would have gone up to that figure per tyre (maybe) if I was going to keep my i30 another couple of years..

i know, the bigger they are, the dearer they get. I've still got the 4 stock rims and tyres in the shed that are only 100kms old.

You would nearly have to give them away (from past experience unless someone wants to use them for a trailer or something demand and price is VERY low)

So many people upgrade to alloys these days there must be thousands of steel wheels in sheds..

I don't think i could drive on bare rims and not notice
i can feel though the steering and body of car if it's making a lot of noise i'd know, when i'm racing my bike even with full face helmet i can hear other louder bikes come up beside me. hard to explaine.
but i'd say they are quiter than the Kumho's that came stock as they feel so much smoother. i love the improved wet weather traction, as no traction control on my car, but now i'm able to excellerate off the lights no wheelspin. in wet

If no wheelspin in the wet ... would have a lot better grip when braking in the wet too I reckon (a win/win situation)

Hey ozsnowman good to see you back ( sorry i was slow ) hey good Wiggy still handling your spirited driving LOL
have you noticed any gain in fuel economy with the Michelin's on?
i oroginally went to the tyre service to get Michelin Energy tyres, the guy  looked up online then told me about the special offer on what i have, so ordered them, i said i want the economy for even better fuel mileage he said yes they help that too, so i'll just have to see but i love these tyres, can't wait for a country drive in the mountains. Betsy has just over 70,000 too has never wanted for anything but service and these tyres. so happy.oh forgot she had windscreen replaced, i love the new windscreen as the top has a tint and looks classy.
