The 2011 Hyundai Accent wiT launched at the April Seoul Motor Show
could easily be mistaken as an update for the i30 hatch.

I like it a lot, especially the sweeping front foglights :D

What I don't like, are the 4-bolt alloy wheel fittings  :fum:

Looks very similar to the ford focus in front and side styling... But that's not a bad thing 

Hope it is not the next i30! Not as pleasing to my eyes as the current i30 and certainly not as nicely balanced as the new i40 Wagon...

There are some photos of the forthcoming Accent on the Hyundai Australia website and it's a different car to this one (certainly at the back).
This one, though badged "Accent," looks like an i30 to me.

They are just about to release the new Elantra (quite nice) and have silhouettes of the Accent, Veloster and i40... a real assault on the Aussie market  :goodjob:

If you click on the silhouette of the Accent it gives you some photos.
I saw the new Elantra in the local dealer yard today as I drove past.
But where are all the diesels in these new models???

More pics and a sad vid of Accent 2011. I'm very surprised how the interior looks. Of course, the exterior also looks nice.

Hi Dave.. Yep the link worked but I didn't see the bit about the diesel coming

Funnily enough I dropped in to see my m8 at the Hyundai dealer today and we had a look at the accent sedan and hatch .. I was amazed how much the Accent hatch just looked like an updated i30 and I got in the top of the range Accent sedan thinking it was another model of the Elantra which was parked in another part of the showroom..

They are so similar but the bonnet is a bit nicer line in the Elantra and it gets 1.8ltr and 6 speed Auto against the Accent's 1.6 with 4 speed auto (manual is 6 speed in Elanta only 5 speed in accent I think)

I think the sales of the i30 may drop a bit now as accent and elantra pinch some of the sales  :blubber:

Isn't this good for us though?

If I can get a diesel Accent with all the goodies in that I've got now (plus more) for a few thousand dollars less than an equivalent i30, then I'd have to look at that. Especially if they give it the 6 speed manual 'box.

Thanks for that link Dave.. very interesting  :goodjob2:

I would pay an extra few K for the i30 with a U2 diesel and 6speed (like Lakes and others have now) rather than "coming down" to the accent (I think) Although you would need a back to back drive to be sure...

My m8 at Hyundai laughed when he said about the price of the i20 coming down... he reckons makes little difference as they are as scarce as hen's teeth...

Hyundai will be hard to beat once the Veloster and i40 Wagon come on line (especially if they throw a 1.7 or 2.0 diesel in the i40 )

As you say I'll have to do a back-to-back drive so I know.
And I keep thinking that to up-spec whatever I buy to what I have now (with the leather & 'roof) will cost more dollars, so I'll probably end up keeping the i30 for a while longer yet, despite its kms.
It would be nice if I could pass it on to my youngest daughter but with her track record of looking after cars I don't think I could.  :undecided:
Although, at 22, I sometimes (occasionally) think that she may, just possibly (on some days), if you catch her at the right time, be starting to grow up and become responsible.
She has had her Accent from new in 2006 and it has done 125,000 trouble-free kms (a great ad for Hyundai, let me tell you). Whenever she pulls in the driveway, I think to myself, "Couldn't you at least give it a wash? Maybe once a year?"

Yes, my apologies for the off topic too. It was all said tongue in cheek of course. She's a great kid.

I'm going to drop into my local friendly Hyundai dealer though over the next few days and take a look at what they've got as I feel I have fallen a bit behind with current offerings.

It will be interesting to see the differences "in the flesh" so to speak between the different models.

Went and had a look at the Accent. Gee, it is very i30ish to my eyes.
I see that the new i30 is to be released in 2012 though so that will probably mean 2013 in Australia in which case I think I'd be tempted to wait & update then.
New diesel, 6 speed manual, leather....mmm  :)

Yeah, think the i30 or i40 is the way to go. The Accent will be the poor man's i30 IMHO.. :whistler:
