Hi Guys,
had my 1000km service done on the diesel SLX i30 last week and asked them to program the auto door locking function, which they did for free. So now when the car reaches 40km/h all the doors automatically lock. They can apparently program in different speeds at which the doors automatically lock but 40 km/h was recommended. I think it's just a safety feature that protects you from having anyone jump in your car when you stop at lights, etc. ...maybe a good thing..... especially if the wife is driving it at night for example.
Anyway just mentioned this as I wondered if anyone else has had it done, or might consider having it done, as it's a free feature of the car that you might easily overlook.

Mornin' Folks,

I expected the Halo to be set as standard but in the excitement of receiving said vehicle didn't notice it wasn't happening for a few days!

The way it's described in the brochure you'd assume it would be on as default but think I'll leave it off (the owner's manual actually says you have to get dealer to turn it on).

Hopefully, chances of being hijacked are a bit lower in little old Tassie and can imagine the odd scenario where it could be a pain (as someone else has apparently already experienced0

Cheers,

Dazz

Hi All,

Ours was programmed by the dealer to be active.  The kids get annoyed when they go to get out, even after stopppin, as the doors are locked.  They have to be manually unlocked.  Other than that, it is great.

The "HALO" was already activated when I collected mine. I was under the impression that it was standard. I don't know what the other models are like, but on mine it has a button on the drivers armrest that will unlock all the doors upon being pressed. Otherwise you can utilise the automatic unlock feature for when the car is involved in a collision... decisions decisions  :?

Hi TK,

That's strange how your Halo feature was set to activated as it says in the owners manual it is set to off as default and to get your dealer to activate it if you want that feature. My Guess is your dealer activated it at the pre-delivery stage as someone must have thought it should be on.

I believe the doors unlock when you remove the ignition key but all models get the unlock/lock button on the driver's door as well.

Sounds like you are happy to live with it on...

Rgds,

Dazz

I like the function.  Doesn't annoy me at all (nor my 2 teenage daughters - they think it is cool).

Anyway, besides the auto unlock when the ignition key is removed , it appears that the doors unlock when you stop and the front passenger gets out.  We have observed a slight delay before the doors automatically unlock in this situation.  (As a family we are not unanimous in our observations of this feature.  I believe the back doors unlock once the passenger shuts the door, but the girls believe it is just a slight delay.)  I haven't tried the driver getting out yet, as the driver usually stays put and lets the motor run for a minute or so.

The back passengers can also manually unlock a door once the vehicle has come to rest.  This is different to the front, in which case the door unlocks and opens in one motion once you have pulled up.
