So, from the serial number on the rubbish bin we can work out which council it's from then make discreet inquiries to narrow it down to a specific address.
Mm.... :whistler:  :D

Because the registration plates make it too easy right?  :whistler:

 Can't check them - privacy laws.

I have never had one of those Riojas's though - must suss one out.  :D

The 'take your pick' in the previous post is a link, in case it's not obvious.

By the way, I haven't shared that the kit failed to include the mounting hardware or instructions for the rear skirt, despite the seller 'apologising' by email and then promptly ignoring any more of my emails or calls.

I asked Cruiserfied to please look into what might be available from Hyundai and he came through like a champ. My thanks to him for that little bit of 'lifesaving' in sourcing the PDF mounting instructions, not only for the rear skirt, but for the front skirt as well, beating scanned quality.

These are available here, or perhaps there's some space on the server where they'll be safer eventually.

That looks realy good! Did you just do that with a rattel can? I'm impressed might just have to do my side skirts myself then. Did you use a primer first?

No primer, just a couple of cans of the right shade made up at Super Cheap along with a couple of cans of standard clear coat for later.

The first coat was dismally faint and spotty but I resisted the urge to constantly and continuously touch up in favour of a long process of letting each light coat settle for at least 48 hours. The discipline is paying off and now after the fourth coat it's all even and there appears to be no danger of creating any contrasting areas at all. I'll just keep spraying until I'm out of paint (both bits get a coat at the same time to minimise the times I have to invert and clear the nozzle). Then I'll do the same with the clear. :goodjob:

All up about $100 in paint across a month and a lot of enjoyment in seeing it come together. I'm blown away just how perfect the colour match and final quality are. :happydance:

Thanls, guys. Now I have to find a way of getting the mounting brackets for the rear skirt. My web enquiries to the dealer network seem to be ignored. :blubber:

Couldn't you just use 3M double sided tape.. ?

If I could do that I would just bolt through the existing holes. The mounting consists for 2 pairs of standoffs (z-shaped metal brackets) to put the skirt at the right height. :Pout:

Sorry Gonz, I'm a bit late to this thread with the added photos.  The car looks fantastic with the skirt on.  Great job.

BTW, I was going to add that it doesn't look as good as me with a skirt on, but then I'd be lying.  Nothing looks as good as me in a skirt!!

Jamie, I could believe that if it's a long skirt starting at the top of your head!

Hi

I have looked into your request and contacted Hyundai for assistance. The rear skirt was an accessory that Hyundai had available but it now an obsolete part. The kit was never sold as an separate item nor were the individual parts. I understand that this is not good news but once the manufacturer discontinues an accessory there is no recourse for parts.

Thanks, mate. There's what I eventually got back tonight. Seems you both found the same result. That leaves me with a bit of guesswork making up my own brackets.

I would contact our friends at the ACCC. I believe they are obligated to carry spare parts.

Repairs and spare parts
Manufacturers or importers guarantee they will take reasonable steps to provide spare parts and repair facilities (a place that can fix the consumer’s goods), for a reasonable time after purchase.
For example:
>   A consumer drops his digital camera, which he bought new a year ago for $2000. He contacts the importer and asks where he can get it repaired. The importer advises they no longer supply parts for that model of camera. A reasonable consumer would expect a one-year-old camera to be repairable. The manufacturer has not taken reasonable steps to provide spare parts or facilities, so the importer must provide a remedy.
How much time is ‘reasonable’?
This will depend on the type of goods. For instance:
>   it would be reasonable to expect that tyres for a new car will be available for many years after its purchase
>   it may not be reasonable to expect that spare parts for an inexpensive children’s toy are available at all.
When the guarantee on repairs and spare parts does not apply
A manufacturer or importer does not have to meet the guarantee on repairs and spare parts if they advised the consumer in writing, at the time of purchase, that repair facilities and spare parts would not be available after a specified time.
