If you have a Sky HD box (don't need a HD subscription) then Qualifying today and the Race tomorrow from Brazil are in HD.

IIRC this is the first time HD coverage has been free. I think there hasn't been any HD feed at all for a couple of years.

Lol I'm two feet away from my 40" screen. I turned the sound up till my ears bleed and I feel like I'm there. Only I'm dry.

The BBC need to sort out their HD coverage, a lot of it is upscaled SD, ITV HD is much more vibrant!

The bits I saw yesterday were in stunning HD, watched from around 12 feet on a 42" Hitachi.

Am I the only member who doesn't have a mobile phone?

I have one - but all it does is make phone calls. :-[
Oh. The shame.

But I do have F1, WRC, NASCAR and V8 Supercars in HDTV.

Yep, F1 looks good in HD, but I still say ITV HD seems more vibrant, BBC just appears a little more muted somehow.

Agreed. Itv hd looks good just found it for the first time. I try to avoid itv. Not because I'm a snob, just I trend to fall asleep in the adverts. When f1 used to be on there I usually only saw half the race. Mind you bernie had something to do with that too.

Brought to you by the letter z and the number two.

TV is ok but you can't beat the real thing

Sure, but I might have a problem persuading the wife that we need to go abroad every 2 weeks for 8 months of the year to watch racing cars, I get a hard enough time as it is!!

The BBC only had upscaled standard definition for the race, though it does a better job of it than the upscaler on my HD box. Looks better on my 100 inch screen. :)

Proper HD will be available from next year, I'm assuming the BBC will buy it.

Don't think I've seen 100" tv  (seen 65" models) or are you talking a projector system ...

any chance of a photo...(what brand if you don't mind me asking)

I intended to get a HD tv and somehow it got upscaled to a Samsung A600 projector and screen for the back lounge. Which, with additional AV amp, an extra speaker, plus wiring, cost me four times as much as I'd planned for the TV.

http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Samsung-SP-A600B/

It is very good if you use it in a dark room.

Got a BK XXLS400 subwoofer on order now, which is extra cost. I'll post a pic when I get it all finished.

Plus I'll still need a new TV for the front lounge sometime anyway. :'(

Ah well, its only money.

Oh .. o/k.. I have been "in the indusry" one way or another for about 15 years on and off and prefer clarity to size so have gone with an Japanese made full HD Panasonic 50" plasma..  I must admit the projectors continue to improve with their contrast and brightness etc.. but don't like the replacement cost of the globes much..

Can certainly be impressive though in a darkened room...

I watch my ordinary TV 95% of the time, save the big screen for films and special stuff. It takes about five minutes to set up everything in there and I need to put the heating on beforehand as well !

I had thought of getting a home cinema system in an upstairs room a few years ago but that would have looked very poor by now I think. My friends have all been amazed at how good it is, which is pleasing. :)

Sounds like a good setup .. We use the 50" Plasma every evening and it has 31 watts RMS (total) for the built in speakers so don't need to use surround system unless watching a  movie or sport...
