Just got a 2011 FD and very happy with my new car. However, the rear fog lights never work. It may be stop lights as stated in the manual but they don't light when I brake the car.  I have checked the fuse and it is fine. Could anyone please confirm they are  fog lights or stop lights? How can I turn them on?

UK/EU regulations require that rear FOG lamps can only operate with headlamps on.  On most  cars they must reset to off if the headlamps are turned off...... i.e not come on when headlamps are turned on again.

Well mine is Euro built and the front an "rear" fog lights will activate with just the side/park lights on.

Same as on my previous FD.

Makes sense to allow the foggers to light up with just the parkers, as I find my dipped beams get reflected back off the fog.

I can't check mine at moment  as not foggy!

If i do check now i can be fined for having them on when visibility is good!

Ps
Will check later and take my chance with plod not being around.

Yeah I find the same, especially at night the normal headlights will cause a lot of reflection in fog.

You don't have to drive your car to check the fogs, just stay parked with the engine off and turn the ignition on which will allow the lights to function :)

Just check my car (UK), the headlights stay off when the engine off and the ignition on. I have to start the engine and turn on the headlights so that the rear fog lights can be turned on.

Ok dodging plod i have checked my gd.

Side lights only on
Front and rear fogs can be on.

Turn side lights off the fogs front and rear off.
Not switching fogs off i turned side lights on again.
Front fogs dash light on and fogs on but rear fogs dash off on but rears on!

Will need to look at this again tomorrow as too cold at moment to be outside
