There is no upper glove compartment in cars delivered to Russian market, one can buy it separately and the price is 65USD roughly.

We don't get the upper box in the UK either. Funny how it differs from country to country ?????? Good photos tho, thanks :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:
-
Thanks for the photos .. your dashboard looks a bit "plane" :whistler:
Wouldn't they be a hazard if you stopped suddenly
-
asathorny
strange, I thought only cars for Russian market are deprived of this box. By the way we have no any extra socket in a cargo hold (I doubt it is called like this in a car :D), nor any underfloor pallet for small items.
Dazzler
No, noway, they were ordered to start engines as fast as possible upon an impact or sudden stop and fly away

Here are the photos of this club's sticker on my car, sorry for the quality, it was shot by my mobile phone; the car is a little bit dirty :D

^--- a "little bit dirty"
Thanks for fitting the decal and posting the pics :goodjob:
-
Shambles
Thank you very much.
Well I see that the word "a little" has nothing to do with a car on the photo , but it could be much more worser, in fact it is a rain season now, so to wash the car now means to waste money :D
-
Yeah, thanks for the photos Misha Interesting placement. Most members have put theirs under the high level brake light ..
Why do you have a RUS sticker on your car .. Can't people work out where you are from by your registration?? :winker:
-
Thanks for the photos - great to see other i30s & other parts of the world.

How's the rust on the white car alongside?

The RUS sticker was to be placed on the cars going abroad long time ago, so for the time being there is no certain rule if it is to be or not for those, who are traveling abroad by their cars. So I prefer to have it on my car in order to avoid any problems, which may arise while traveling in Finland where I use to go every month.
As far as the place where my decal was concerned I tried to avoid any contact the wiper with the decal, so the latter may last longer, meanwhile the Getz-club decal is stuck from inside.
surferdude
It is because the car is Russian and quite old (10-8 years I think), that's why the rust can be seen on its parts, but it is able to move nevertheless, in fact there are many more cars in worser conditions in the roads of Russia.
db08
Mine seems to be only one with this decal in Russia, which makes this car unique. :whistler:
-
2i30s
Well, I'm not sure, it was either lost or stolen in Gatchina city a year ago :(

that is interesting as you would very seldom see a car of only 10 years old with rust that bad in Australia...

In fact the reagents, which are dispersed on the road in a winter time in Russia, aggravate the situation significantly, not to mention the shoes, that don't live long as the materials of which they are made, are fretted by those reagents.
-
Yes glad nowhere in OZ is cold enough to need salt on the roads... :happydance:
-
I don't know if the same type of device is used in your country, but in Russia they have become quite popular as may be hidden behind the parked car or anything else
like this one
(http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m590/meehalych/vlcsnap-2011-10-16-13h23m54s564.png)
Having driven closer one can see it more clearly
(http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m590/meehalych/vlcsnap-2011-10-16-13h24m19s384.png)
speed limit of that road - 60km/h, I was driving with 80km/h according to the speed gauge (77-78km/h in reality) and it didn't work on me (they never do)
:happydance:
-
That's why your government doesn't have any money, you have to turn them on to make them work.
Don't speed in Australia, they'll get you every time. :(

Hmm, they work, actually and many Russians claim they have got letters, compelling them to pay a fine, but the device itself appears to be adjusted to 30+ km/h speed exceeding. :happydance:
-
Well that's 1 thing better in Russia than Australia. This is a great country......except for the politicians.
-
That's quite amusing :)
It looks like an old TV on a stand.
The ones we have here are either mounted on tripods at the side of the road (take your piccie coming towards or going away), or hidden in the backs of white vans parked at the side of the road and now we have speed cameras at a lot of major intersections permanently mounted on yellow poles to compliment the permanent red light cameras, so if you go through on a green but are speeding, they get you anyway,.
I believe in Britain they put them into green rubbish bins? Is this correct?
And as for 30 km/h over, we get infringements at 7 km/h over. :(
Ah, road safety........
-
Yes, we have them too. Some of them look like trash cans.
About the +30 km/h, you are talking about.. Probably too many people driving with +10 or +20 km/h, that it would make the camera brake down quickly -> taking pics every second
On our highways, where the speed limit is 130 km/h, the radars are usually set to "above 150 km/h". Because, if they set it to 140 km/h, the tolerance will "kill it" (driving only + 3km/h over).. Over here, the tolerance for radars like those on the pic above is -> 5 km/h below 100 km/h and 7 km/h above 100 km/h. I don't know the tolerance for around 50 km/h. Probably 1-3%.
And if the cops are measuring your speed from moving vehicle (driving behind you), then the tolerance is 7km/h, for speed below 100 km/h; 8 km/h for 101-150 km/h and 9 km/h for 150 km/h+.
-
And as for 30 km/h over, we get infringements at 7 km/h over. :(
Ah, road safety........
You're lucky, here in Victoria we get between 2-3kph or 3%, depending on the device used....... :(

We have a new police car on trial here (but it will be expanded into the fleet) that has practically everything onboard, including number plate recognition technology so as it's being driven along it "reads" all the number plates (both directions) of other cars & scans the computer for anything of interest, eg unlicensed vehicle, stolen vehicle, owner under suspension, outstanding warrants on owner, etc.
It also has fireable "barbs" so if a stolen car is detected and it fails to stop, it heats up the barb & fires it towards the stolen car, attaching itself on the back of the car. The attachment which is now attached to the stolen car incorporates a GPS unit so the car doesn't have to be pursued; it can be monitored via on-board computer and "tracked" to its current location, either by car or police helicopter.
The patrol car also has cameras on each corner to monitor traffic all around it & constantly check for any violations as detected by onboard computer systems.
Pretty snazzy.
-
I assume you are our pulling our leg about the the GPS barbs Dave  (the rest sounds feasible) :goodjob:
-
db08
Sounds like something they would have in Russia, no here. Where did we get it from, Q branch. :'(
-
I assume you are our pulling our leg about the the GPS barbs Dave  (the rest sounds feasible) :goodjob:
No Dazz, I'm actually not. They really do have them.
We've had issues over here for a long time with pursuits and several people (mainly offenders but not always) killed during them.
The barbs apparently have a wax coating & they are heated prior to firing so that they stick to the offending vehicle and they actually have a GPS tracking unit in them.
High-tech, & all of the equipment adds about $50,000 to the cost of each vehicle.
All of the test equipment is fitted to a marked Holden Commodore SV6.

Here you go, Daz...... :D

Our police cars have been using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) for years and we also have the same technology on the major entrances/exits to all cities in the UK, they tend to use that for amassing evidence of drugs being moved around.

We're always a bit behind in the colonies :)
W.A. (Western Australia) supposedly stands for "Wait Awhile." :undecided:

Sorry to doubt you Dave :-[
Gee things have changed.. We used to have a policewoman called "Barb" down here and she didn't know where she was half the time.. let alone tracking anyone else...

That's ok, I relate.
As long as you didn't pour hot wax over her and send her off to attach herself to other cars, then it's all good.

Was that a poisonous "Barb"

No, a Barb eque :)
Sorry, been reading Dazz's posts too long :blubber: :blubber: :blubber: :blubber:

No, all the 57/08 plate UK i30's came from Korea and have the upper box.
When they switched manufacture from Ulsan to Novovice, the Euro models stopped getting lots of the goodies us original owners are/were privvy to, the box was only one item.......

Ah right-oh... thats where I keep my Airwave chewies! :goodjob2:

Dirty Russian i30.

Did you just take the wheel covers off for this trip Misha??
Hmm, frankly speaking, I haven't bought them yet, actually.
Those wheel's disks are not of Hyundai ones, actually, as my car had alloy ones with summer tires initially, so I had to buy a set of 4 wheels and get it installed as it was January.
-
nice pics Misha. :goodjob2: :goodjob:
Thank you. :D
-
Oh I see .. you could just spray them silver  :D

This modification to my disks might make them decent for a thief, even though I have two different locks per each wheel

What a place
O tempora! O mores!
Before it was worse (I mean 1990-2000) when thiefs used to steal the wind screen wipers.

Nice pictures, yes  And what are the roads like on that route? Got any interesting video? :)

Yes, that is what I had, I sold Hyundai Getz with 32000km on clock in Jan 2010 after owning it for almost two years.
Runs smooth, with some bang sounds wafting from suspension.
Yes, that is only one I can afford myself for the time being
He's conscientious, takes his work home with him.

I changed the wheels yesterday, it took me almost two hours. The rear wheels proved to be welded to disks, so I spent lot of time removing them (had to spray WD-40 and use another wheel in both cases).

my car is covered with pollen :(

Birch-trees pollen strongly. My looks like your

That's why your government doesn't have any money, you have to turn them on to make them work.
Don't speed in Australia, they'll get you every time. :(
In victoria they have a habit of pointing cameras down hills to catch EVERYONE who doesn't ride their brakes all the way down.
Safety is priority right? pfft
If it was they would light them up a night, not hide them in the dark behind trees.
Speed cameras don't stop speeding. They let you continue down the road at whatever speed you want and send you a bill later. A copper however will pull you up and stop you.

That is my old Hyundai i30 on the right :blubber:

Well, I don't know yet :undecided:. It is my Getz, that I wish I had met in the road (that is because Getz was my first car)
