Can you lot keep the noise down please?Congratulations with your new camcorder.
I'm trying to play with my new Doddie :D

Misha - I don't need that strap so I shall send it to you. With your postal system, you should receive it sometime in 2014 ;)No, thank you, I'd rather come and pick it up myself :)
How is your DOD fastened to your windscreen Misha? Do you use one of the fasteners that came with the camera?Yes I do.
Also, what does your menu system look like?Mine looks like this, except it is in English :)
or this (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/ShamblesX/index_image036.jpg)
I have a question for anyone who has a similar device... there are two maximum resolution settings "1920x1080" and "1920x1080 S". Any idea what the "S" means? My drive in was set at "1920x1080 S" but I've changed it to "1920x1080" to see what the difference is later.I've read something about it in one of the Russian forum, but as I don't have it I didn't pay much attention, but I could try to find it
Thanks Misha (my menu's in English too now ;))
By the way, according to the DOD website (for the F900LHD (http://www.dod-tec.com/new_pop.php?id=37)), if you have this menu then you have a fake camera
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y297/ShamblesX/index_image036.jpg)
The other menu is apparently the genuine one
Yeah I think the "how to check if it's a fake" section is itself a fake section :disapp:that might concern F900 camcorder only as I found the same info in Russian DOD's site
Doesn't appear to be charging as I'm driving along, as I've noticed the battery level is reducing, but that's a minor issue which is probably down to a setting somewhere.
Just wondering how the new cam is going, Steve? :undecided:
Just wondering how the new cam is going, Steve? :undecided:I'm sure his one works prefect, so does mine :P
Are either of you two guys planning to upload a video?eh, there are lot of my videos on this site
I see a model F520LHD, wonder what the difference is.
I found this one, is it from the subject camera?yes, this thread is mine alone with the video shots there

Although short, it appears to be of good quality.
as the first (and only) time I tried it I ended up converting a 20 second edited clip (from the DOD) into a 1Tb avi file :eek:did you convert it into 3D?

I've been checking that one out, pip....Seems it's an updated model to the F500....the last DOD F500's software provides no interval time too, so there is only one significant difference - colour
It supports 64gb SD Cards, uses no interval time file saving technology, takes 16mp photos and comes in a pretty gold colour.... :D

So the firmware has bumped the SD card support up to 64gb for the F500?I can't see a sense in using SD cards with hight capacity, such as 64Gb for example (unless someone wants to record a really long trip in one go with no notebook or other storage device at ones disposal).
What about the digital zoom...it's 8X on the F520...compared to 4X. :undecided:do you really need the digital zoom?! is it so vital feature? I would prefer to have optical one instead
Misha, have you found any later firmware version for your doddie?
Thanks. Not sure I understand any of itI have just updated a firmware of my DOD successfully.
I'll try all that thanks :Dthere is no time interval between files (it was 2 seconds in my former firmware)
Any idea what the differences are?
Just rechecked my firmware using a magnifying glass and it is indeed T2L-KH (not -HH)
Which firmware did you choose? I've gotthis one too
http://f500-faq.narod2.ru/firmware/500/4x/V8.9_T2L-KH.bin (http://f500-faq.narod2.ru/firmware/500/4x/V8.9_T2L-KH.bin)
Who has provided these firmwares? I've got my SD card ready but haven't started it yetcamcorder owners (they also tested a firmware compatibility with older firmwares)
Well, the flashlog.txt file was created with a few bytes of rubbish in it, but the "firmware" file remained.yes, to firmware (I hope you disregarded these "")
And the version on the camera settings remains as it was before :(
You sure I have to rename the file to "firmware"?
firmware.binIt didn't work, when I renamed file into firmware.bin, actually (though a text file was created too)
not firmware
I'll try again :P
Yep got the Mystery logo."duration" may be set to "off"
Not much else seems to have changed.
I've got "duration" settings as 45min 30min 15min and "recycle" as 15min 10min 5min and 1min (and "off")
Not that much of an upgrade then :(come on, there will be other updates later on, no doubt
Cheers anyway
at least I got rid of that 2 sec interval :happydance:

Was just pointing out the differences between the 2 cameras...... :razz:ok
whereas 4608 x 3456 resolution is for the photos only (4000x3000 for DOD F500LHD)
and here is an info from DOD-tech site for F520: Max support to 32GB SDHC Card :P
Apologies for adding to an old post but I stumbled across this today. Is this a DOD F500 under a different name?

- I accidentally dropped my DOD from a hight of 1.3 m today, it then hit an asphalt two or three times and came to a halt... I thought it wouldn't work in the end, frankly speaking, but it switched on and worked properly :happydance:
+ Happy end.
What you actually meant to type was:D- I accidentally dropped my DOD from a hight of 1.3 m today, it then hit an asphalt two or three times and came to a halt... I thought it wouldn't work in the end, frankly speaking, but it switched on and worked properly :happydance:

Yes, just for fun and sometimes to show others in different parts of the world what local conditions can be like. Also some members are trying to find what is a good quality camera, so there are examples of different cameras here too. Some members use the cameras for evidence gathering should they be unfortunate enough to have an accident.
 Me 2, too bad :snigger::whistler: :snigger:
this may be a bit off topic, but the misses bought me one of these for fathers day...
sold. :snigger:
