My wife reckons that I am becoming a grumpy old man. Every time we go out in the car I seem to find something that irritates me.

See what you started  :blubber:

You're still hogging tho, in contravention of the highway code :P

Yep, and we see contraventions of that particular bible everytime we go out, cyclists on pavements, people parking on double yellow lines and close to junctions, motorcyclists riding three abreast and zipping in between cars (thereby undertaking), folk don't know how to use roundabouts (lane 1 - 2 - 1 to go straight ahead is a particular pet hate of mine), yellow hatched boxes seem to confuse everybody (how can it be difficult to understand that one vehicle is allowed to enter the box if the exit is clear??), vehicles which are supposed to be restricted to 56mph bombing past you as you sit at 65, overtaking on hatches, pulling in 20yd from the roadworks when you have been warned about them for the last 800yds etc etc etc.

Have you noticed that plod doesn't do a damn thing about any of them, which takes us all the way back to the lane hoggers get away with it and so continue to do so.

Probably why the country is in such a bloody mess, no consideration and nobody to enforce rules and discipline

Police say motorists who sit in the outside lane, blocking other drivers are not just being thoughtless, but they cause accidents.

So middle lane is ok?  :p

Probably why the country is in such a bloody mess, no consideration and nobody to enforce rules and discipline

Governments and Police have no one to blame but themselves because, instead of having police out on patrol, they've sat back and left it up to speed cameras.....trouble is, speed cameras catch no one other than those breaking the speed limit.

I guess the point though is that even if lane 1 is clear, a motorist in lane 2 sitting at 70mph is in my mind completely within his rights to be occupying lane 2 (despite it technically being an overtaking lane) on the assumption that sliproad traffic may cause excessive lane hopping.

I disagree with this.

They should move into lane 1  and then if the see traffic merging onto the road they can move over into 2.

Don't forget, the traffic merging onto the road must giveway to traffic already on the road. They do not have a given right just to join without giving way to traffic already there.

Am I the only one that thinks if you are at max speed of 70mph the whole point is that you can't be hogging since legally nobody can go past you??? :p

True but................... you are preventing a possible "cash cow" from being stopped by the Police

People who use the entire length of an overtaking lane on the highway to go 5km/hr faster than the car in front.... which was already doing 30 under the limit.
It seems to happen almost every day on my way home from work :S

On a 3 lane highway you'll find me sitting in the middle lane....
We don't have those 3 lane thingies up here in NQ, so I don't have to make those types of decisions...  :happydance:

Just look out for a gray i30 rusty. Hopefully by then it should have a nice new set of 17" wheels on it.

Let me know when you are here and we might be able to meet up and have a beer or two... Your shout of course....  :drinks:

In UK the emergency lane will only be found on motorways and is called the "Hard Shoulder".

No vehicle is allowed to "run" in that lane ...

Agreed. How about this clown on my trip to work this morning? At least 2 rules broken:

What a w@nker!  :faint:

Just off topic for a moment....

How come the letter "a" gets changed to an "@" in the word "twat" yet  if I type "wanker" it gets changed to tosser?

Is wanker more offensive? Not in my opinion...... :undecided:

Just one of life's little mysteries, I guess......   :whistler:

Carry on...... :D

No Police No camera..... when you need one

By the way I thought you were following him/her to give him/her a piece of your mind by darting into lane 1  ---- I take it you were just legal as you reached the lane split.  As I can't see to the right I take it the van was in line with your car until the lane split!!  :whistler:

I was actually intending to carry on in lane 2/3 following the split, but I darted into lane 1 to try and get more details of his van on camera - that didn't work. Yes I accelerated to around 80mph but he just floored it. I don't get angry on the road, just annoyed. It's yet another pet hate of mine... blatant disregard for the rules of the road

Thanks "Eye", I do understand the mechanics of it but was just curious as to who decides particular words are offensive and why is it they consider changing a letter
to a symbol somehow makes that word less offensive when it's still obvious what the word is meant to be....
Personally, I'd put Twat ahead of Wanker when it comes to what I would call offensive but I guess it's different in ol' "Blighty"... :D

Anyhow, it doesn't really matter, feel free to ignore.... :goodjob:
