I guess that depends what sat nav your talking bout.....  my Nuvi shows my speed by default !!!

Are you talking about the integrated sat nav?   If so I have no clue. but, that's yet another reason not have to built in  :blubber: :blubber: :blubber:

I don't have a new i30 with the integrated GPS, but I am guessing it doesn't show the speed, as it is integrated and therefore assumes that if you want to know the speed then you will look at the speedo.  Hopefully somebody who does have the new i30 will be able to help (yes, I am very jealous).

As for the comment "does everything just as good as those UGLY ones", you should add, APART FROM SHOW THE SPEED!! (yes, I am still jealous).

You are probably right FatBoy I know that it has no trouble informing me "YOU ARE EXCEDING THE SPEED LIMIT"  when my driving gets a bit spirited LOL

 :goodjob:

But mine comes with free added extras, like "nagging", "cold shoulder", and the always entertaining "do these pants make me look fat?" (there is no correct answer for that one, I have found that out the hard way).

Come to think of it, I much prefer yours.

I have not found a way to display the speed sorry to say. There is a thread about going into test mode of the unit which brings up the speed amongst other things but it is not something you would actually use day to day, I think the thread is about video playback if you want to try and find it. I find the speedo fast, I.e. 100 on the speedo is probably high 90s but it could just be everyone speeding around me 😃

Also haven't found a way of displaying speed - if you have an android mobile there are a few speedo apps that you can install which displays your speed from GPS.

Some of the things the integrated sat-nav does not do compared with a Garmin Nuvi 3590 LMT:-

•   You cannot plan a route on your computer and download it to the sat-nav.

•   You cannot see your road speed when driving and the current speed limit of the road you are on

•   You cannot load your own POI's such as the latest speed cameras, national car parks, favourite restaurant chain etc

•   You cannot position the screen at the top of the dash so you can glance at it or use the touch screen without taking your eyes way off the road

•   You cannot take the sat-nav with you at your destination to navigate when walking or to find where you parked your car

•   You cannot take your sat-nav with you when away on a foreign holiday for use in a hire car

•   You cannot use the sat-nav for navigating using just voice controls

•   You don’t have effective automatic voice volume to compensate for varying cabin noise

•   You don’t have a detailed lane assist and photo junction view displays for all major road junctions

•   You don’t have traffic trends – which remembers your own regular trips

•   You don’t have integration with your android 3G phone to provide real time 3D traffic details, photo live traffic cameras, weather forecasts etc,  for your route

•   You don’t have trip logging which can be uploaded to your computer for trip analysis

•   You don’t have the maps updated 3 times a year for FREE

•   Because you have spent  £1000 on the integrated sat-nav (whereas a  Nuvi 3590 costs only £250)  You don’t have about £750 change to spend on other car goodies

but don't feel too bad *THE i30*  I came very very close to buying one two and half years ago when I bought my 1.6 Edition.     I held off because unlike most of the other guys here a thousand quid (UKP's) is quite a lot of dosh to me.

I didn't buy the Elite just because it had a Sat Nav as I already have a Navman portable all I was asking was if there was a speed readout on it.
But thanks for your in depth analysis Alien Ho LOL.

Well... not to worry, whilst we're ragging you we're giving someone else a rest

Console yourself in the knowledge that you have one of, if not the, best value for money cars on the road.   So, well done  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:
