How does the standard i30 SatNav match up to the likes of Sygic or Garmin ? I use both in my soon to be ex-car and the Garmin on the bike and never had a bad trip (!!!!!!)

This is only my personal thoughts. I am not impressed with the one that came with the 2014 GD i30. I found the Tom Tom that I had in my old car much more reliable. Had the dealer supposedly update it and it was no different. One fault is I often get a command to turn left when it should be right. The updated maps on the Tom Tom were  easily available. This is the only thing on my i30 that I am not impressed with so no big deal . Being old school I always use a map as well as the Sat Nav, old habits die hard. As I said that is only my experience other members Sat Navs may work fine. :goodjob2:

I think they're all hit and miss,

I had Tom Tom in my other car and I knew were I was going, anyway going along this main road it said take a right and I thought hmm must be a short cut so I hung a right, it took me through a housing estate then onto a dirt track with massive pot holes then hang a left down this road and the bugger took me back to the main road I was originally on about a 100 meters further up the bloody road, must of waisted about 20 minutes. bleeding bag of crap. :head_butt:

Oh, that doesn't sound too encouraging. I'll keep the Garmin, then.

You'd think that that would be an easy piece of kit to get right, considering how many good Nav programmes there are in the market. Oh well.....

i think part of the problem is that it is programmed to avoid traffic congestion and road works. sometimes it's out of kilter with the live updates.

I wasn't expecting much from my (Holden) built in GPS after all the negative feedback on the i30 model, but it seems to work great (although POI aren't quite as comprehensive or user friendly)

Last time I was given an alternative route to avoid road works on my Sat Nav  I ignored it ,just as well as I did not see any work going on at all so I saved going well out of my way for nothing. Hard to trust. :disapp:
