Hi Everyone.
I picked up my new Hyundai i30 about 4 days ago and I think I've managed to turn off the Headlight Battery Saver function. When I remove the keys from the ignition the headlights stay on.  I've just finished reading the relevant section of my owners manual and I suspect I did, inadvertently, do what it suggests to turn off the Battery Saver function i.e.
Open the drivers door and then turn the Parking Lights Off and On again.

What I was hoping is that one of you might be able to advise me how I turn it back on?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Andrew

Welcome Andrew_McColl,

Don't know the answer but have you tried repeating the actions again, maybe it just toggles between off / on mode.

Not sure anyone has done that before Andrew (welcome by the way)  :goodjob:

Do you mean that  you have turned off the the function where the lights stay on for 30 seconds after you lock the car " the see me home function" or whatever it is called (I am surprised it is that easy to turn off)

Hi Dazzler & 847563

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly.

I've just gone out and checked and the headlights do turn off about 30 seconds after you exit the vehicle and close the door.  But I've got this memory that when I first used the headlights they would turn off as soon as I removed the key from the ignition.  Thats what the manual says they should do.

847563 I have tried repeating the actions again it didn't seem to work.

Do you have any other thoughts?

Andrew

Fraid not, it was only a guess. One of our more experienced owners may be able to help, failing that, read the manual or visit your dealer.  :blubber:

The headlight switch just seems to have Off, Park and Headlight.

Andrew

The earlier models (pre MY10) used to turn off as soon as you removed the key but MY10, My11 etc have "see me home function" (30sec delay) by default as far as I know. Our 2008 CRDi was instant off with key removed but MY11 CW we have now is the same as yours...(if that helps)

if the lights are on and the key is removed from the ignition the lights drop down to the parkers, when i open the door the parkers turn off immediately.

Hi 2i30s

Mines not doing that at the moment.  The headlights stay on full if I remove the key.

I am wrapped to discover that they turn off 30 seconds after i exit the vehicle but I'd still love to work out how I turn the key removal lights off functionality back on.

That is what they did in your "older model" Steve.. they have had the see me home function for a couple of years (try and keep up) as Shambles would say

sorry mate,I'm not sure how because both my i30's are early 09 models and don't have the function your i30 has,and I'm usually not stumped on a members fault, problem or querie.   :Pout: :-[

Hi Andrew.

A few posts I've read around the 'net (and implied on our forum here) suggest that the follow-me-home function is/was a dealer-enabled feature that requires a hi-scan unit to alter. I'm surprised your manual states how to enable yet not disable it.

I'd have a word with your dealer and make an enquiry there, as my cursory glance around the intermeweb doesn't come up with much in the way of an owner changing the setting.

Good luck.

On my car you get out of the car - hit the lock button on the remote to lock the doors - press it once more and the headlights go off.

Must try that on Trish's Cw sometime (she hardly ever drives at night)
