Hey

I'm from Switzerland an have recently ordered my new i30 with 128hp crdi engine.
Unfortunately I'll have to wait till september for delivery
Until then I'll absorb every bit of information here to shorten my waiting time  :D

Thanks :)

Well, I have to be patient in order to get the i30 I want. It's that simple.

My dealer told me, that the car I ordered (the strongest engine but witouth leather-seats, satnav, paking sensors and such luxury) isn't really on top of the priority list at Hyundais czech factory and Switzerland isn't such a big market. If I'd have ordered the car with more expensive stuff (like most of my compatriots obviously do) I'd probably be driving it right now. But I didn't want to pay 5000 - 9000$ more for some extras I don't need.

Very good point but I couldn't wait. Sure enough it will turn up eventually. In the mean time, enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum.
That's what I did - I joined in July 2008 and didn't buy my car until April 2009.
It will be worth the wait.

Welcome peon2t

Bit of along wait to September.

Are you sure what you have been told is correct?

I'd be giving Hy HQ in Switzerland a ring and see what they say.
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Hey

I'm pretty sure it's like this. I asked about five different Hyundai dealers, everyone looked it up in his computer and everyone told me the same thing.

Basically they say I just ordered the 'wrong' version (of course it's the right one for me but the one that has to be built yet at the factory).

As far as I can see, every country here in Europe has quite some different versions and combinations.
For example in Switzerland we can only chose between three engines: 1,4 petrol (100HP), 1,6 petrol (135HP) and 1,6 diesel (128HP) while the Germans can choose betwen five engines, three of which are diesel powered. But other than the Germans (and probably most other countries)  we in Switzerland can have the strongest engine together with the cheapest version of equipment. Don't know why this is but obviously exactly this combination is the one, which is at the end of the queue at the factory. The dealers also told me, that very few people ordered the car in the combination I did. The say either it's ordered with the cheapest equipment and the weakest engine (for the savyy ones... but since I'm used to drive my fathers quite strong Volkswagen diesel I don't want to change down to a 1,4 petrol engine) or with the strong engine and the expensive equipment. But as I said. I don't want to spend 5000$ on parking sensors,  6 instead of 4 speakers  and a bluethoot feature that is already included in my old stand-alone Satnav

Tough there is a little flicker of hope: One dealer told me, that Hyundai sometimes has a mess in it's computer system and they once had five cars delivered two months early because Hyundai "found" them in the warehouse while they don't have been noted in the computers...

that long
in Feb 2008 I ordered my first car - Getz, that was due to be delivered by May, but in the beginning of March I got a phone call from a dealer, that said my car had arrived (that was a shock, indeed, as I hadn't had enough money by that time, so I had to borrow it from different people)

@peon2t,

You may be pleasantly surprised by an early delivery, so sit back and wait for that phone call. Now that your order is placed, the factory may simply build the vehicle if they have the materials you specified, did you know HY make a full vehicle every 18 seconds!. Glad you haven't wasted money on the parking sensors, it has been mentioned that they're definitely not worth the money. I do the same with bluetooth through my satnav too  :goodjob:

Welcome.  :drinks:

Since you have to wait for that long, perhaps you could ask for one or two more useful accessories for free in return. For example, steering wheel lock, window tint or free periodic service...etc.  :D

Patience is a virtue.
Anticipation is half the pleasure.
All good things come to those who wait.
Delayed gratification is good for the soul.
All these things were drummed into me as I grew up.....
