Hi all, this is all new to me so please bear with me... :D
I have a 2012 i30 and some clown has extended the centre rear seat belt right out and I cant get it to retract. The car is a mobility car so Im trying to avoid a bill from them...any help would be greatly appreciated..... :(

Out of curiosity I just pulled my centre belt out as far as it can go and it slides back OK - even after I gave it a good strong tug to see if it would lock up when fully out.  I wonder if yours was pulled out and it was twisted on the way back in and the twisted section is refusing to go back on the reel. Will the belt pull out any further - or is it already fully out?

Sounds like the pretensioner has become dislodged. Happened on one of my rear seatbelts in week #1 of ownership.

Actually - when I first typed my post it read "Out of curiosity I just pulled mine out as far as it can go and it slides back OK - etc"

When I read it through to check the spelling, I immediately saw the possibility of distortion by twisted filthy minds - so I changed it.......not enough obviously.......

had it and got the T shirt.

the tensioner has stuck at the base so unless by pulling the belt it releases it I'm afraid it will require a dealer fix.

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

My philosophy when fixing things.  If it doesn't fit, get a bigger hammer!!

Remember that a tool box only NEEDS two items, WD40 and Duct Tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD40.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the Duct Tape.

Sounds like this was a WD40 problem, overcome with the thing not in the tool box, brute force.  For that I get my wife to fix it.

Bit close to Xmas to end up in the doghouse. If you do, there's always the HOS Xmas dinner, good company, great entertainment  :whistler:
