Hi. My name is Julian Moss and I live in NW Cumbria in the UK, on the edge of the Lake District.

I have just purchased a new white i30 hatchback (1.4 petrol) and hope to have it a week on Saturday (24th Jan.)

It was kind of an unexpected purchase. We were sitting in a local dealers waiting for our Suzuki to be fixed and saw this nice looking car. Olga, my wife, went to look at it and said it was just over £10K. I said you're kidding me! I would have thought it cost a lot more than that just from the looks of it. One thing led to another, the dealer offered me a good trade-in price on the Suzuki, we took one for a test drive, I came home, did some Googling, found lots of favorable reviews, and went back the next day to place the order.

This will be the first new car I've ever bought. I'm quite excited and really looking forward to 24th!

Hi Julian, welcome to the club :)

As Hemmi said, you simply will not believe what a great ride our i30 is. Sounds like you got the comfort model. Is it the SE version with the sunroof?

Yep. I'm looking forward to being able to use that. I had one on the car before last, which was an old BMW 316i, and I missed not having one.

Welcome Julian

Our UK number are increasing, but slowly.

You should find, even with the 1.4 petrol, that the pulling power should be sufficient for all the hill in the Lakes.

Enjoy your ride and post some pics of of your car with spectacular views of the Lakes in the background.

Welcome Julian, the Lake District is a beautiful part of the country (on a nice day), have a run up the Coniston Pass, you will be surprised by the pulling power I'm sure. :D

Thanks. I'm sure having the i30 will result in a renewed interest in touring around the area, though personally I prefer driving north of the border - the roads are less crowded there. Olga is the photographer, so I'm sure we'll have some pics soon.

We might even have a run down to Shambles neck of the woods. We often visit Manchester for shopping, going to concerts etc. but we stay right in the centre where parking is expensive and as we don't need a car while we're there, we usually go on the train. But it would be nice to have an excuse for a motorway run once the car's run in.
