Anybody carried out an upgrade to the new released Apple OSX El Capitan yet, if so what do you think of it.

I woz dithering with me finger on the button the other evening, but me ass dropped out.  I am gonna do it though as soon as the final is released.   I don't think there is any mega changes though is there?

Split screen, improved Safari ( I use Firefox)  and a few tweeks to do with speed et al.

Go and do it then report back  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :crazy1: :crazy1:

I was going to wait a few days, and check to see if there are any major problems.  With Apple, I am not expecting any.  (Hand grenade released, waiting for pro-PC brigade to fight back)

I have never looked back since going Mac.
i love the magic pad!
i did the update works fine. but i'm not on it all day so no expert, just i did update on my 5 year old iPad last week that works fine ( always has ) just the iPad screen is now locked in portrate if you turn it to try landscape it won't but thats a feature i know, just unlocking? it has the little pad lock with a rotated arrow in the top right of screen next to battery power & blue tooth. does anyone know how to turn on & off the screen lock? if not i will wait till i can get down to Tilba to my favourite Cafe , the lady there is an apple expert she had a computer shop, was showing me a lot of tricks she can do with the iPad. thing about my apples is they have all been trouble free & the speed has stayed the same very easy to use & learn. the 27" monitor the best!!!! i have that the iPad & the iPhone 6 no complaints just hope someone can tell me trick in locking & unlocking screen on iPad
cheers

G'day Lakes,

On your iPad, swipe up from the bottom so that a mini menu appears.  There should be a "Lock Rotation" button on that.  I have set mine up to lock rotation on the side switch.  If you want, I can tell you how to do that.

Started the upgrade to El Capitan.  Which I think is Spanish for "Gonz".

Just over 6 GB for the download.  I'll let you know how it goes or if I notice a difference.

Downloaded last evening, installed this morning, no problems thus far.   I haven't tried the split screen yet and may never as I already use two 27" monitors.  so it'd be a little like overkill...

So basically it's no change over here

Same same, Asa.  Downloaded and installed last night.  Using now.  No issues thus far.  I don't really need the split screen either, and with a laptop screen it would probably not be that readable.

Thank's for that , Jamie. i solved problem. i went into settings, took tick off lock had to tick mute, then screen will rotate. i remember now, when i could hear again i wanted all the sound's working . had gone into settings untucked mute.

I was wondering why Asa needed two 27" app le monitors, i thought he must be working on something big that u need more room or poor eye sight . did not think Asa would be using that flying software, but its a challenge for sure! I think you need one of those Curved screens about 90" ASA would be like you are there but the Apple 27" the sharpest there is it has a lot of resolution.
i don't need a desk i have a small shelf mounted to the brick wall, the keyboard & magic pad & monitor all sit on it i stand up ( better for health i think )

The download took bout one hour, I know seemed to long for me too, then the following morning the install was maybe a half our.

Although I admit to a dementia problem....   I kept trying to update iphoto for quite a little while, untill it dawned on me that there is no iphoto anymore, then then removed iphoto from the applications folder and updated the new PHOTO   <sigh>

Still no problems to report after 24/48hrs....

Upgraded to OSX Capitana ,no problems upgrading but have noticed that there is no Mail notification sound now. Went onto Apple forum  and looked at several suggestions to fix but it has now been decided it is an Apple El Capitana bug . Now waiting for an update to fix.
