We have just returned from visiting family up in Yorkshire - near Hebden Bridge. We had a great time seeing the moors again and managed to squeeze in a short visit to Haworth - of Bronte family fame - which did me a great favour. My wife has spent the past couple of months looking for a dress to wear at her 70th birthday luncheon party in June and my patience was wearing thin. She found exactly what she was seeking in a ladies fashion shop there.

However - I digress - On the way back home via the M1 motorway we ran into a violent hailstorm - despite visibility being reduced to a few yards - some idiots saw fit to sail along at high speed regardless. Fortunately after a couple of minutes I spotted an exit into the services and we stopped off there until it cleared.

Whilst we were having coffee a group of people came in - a few adults and about a dozen teen-agers. All the males were wearing suits that didn't fit, ties that were choking them and patent leather shoes. The girls ranging from about 12 to 20 years old were in skimpy tarty clothes and heavily made up.  It was obvious they were gypsies on their way to a function of some sort.  I hasten to add I have no problem with gypsies until they misbehave and this lot were the absolute pits. They piled into the McDonalds section - barged the queue aside - and then took over a section of the seating area where the teenagers started a food fight. There was food and drinks flying everywhere. Some customers had to vacate the place - they were being splattered. One of the McDonalds staff went over to the table where their adults (parents?) were sitting, presumably to ask them to intervene and whilst I didn't hear what was said, clearly got threatened, and the kids carried on regardless.

They left after about 20 minutes leaving the place looking like a bomb had hit it. There was an area covering about a dozen tables covered in food, thrown drinks, packaging and sauces they had drained from the dispensers.

No wonder the gypsy community have a poor reputation

Probably moved on to "do over" some houses. What an unfortunate, distorted view of the world they have. 

Really puts a downer on your happy travels, too.

sounds a bit like a lot of the younguns running round over here these days, their parents should be the ones whipped,maybe then they would take greater interest in what their feral kids are doing

Yes, that was one in W.A.
It hit the news a lot over here.
After they left the store, they went outside and one of the girls laid down in the middle of the intersection and lifted her skirt up to her neck apparently.

Yes never did hear the outcome of that one,what were three fifteen/sixteen year olds doing that drunk in the first place.

I was far from the ideal teenager,but bugger me if my Mother even heard of me doing something like this,she would have taken my head off my shoulders,never used to worry about the Ol man,but bugger me I never used to like getting on Mums bad side,I remember the very first time I got drunk(well first time I got caught)mum bounced me from one end of the house to the other,Dad had to pull her off me.
