I saw it this morning in The Age newspaper.  I used to work with the P76 owner mentioned.

The quality issues were sorted towards the end of its production run and it was the sorry state of BL that caused its demise as the British parent company sold off all Australia assets including the Zetland plant where the P76 was built, in order to cash up and pay some of its own debts.
In reality, the car had no more faults than any other new model introduced by other car makers.
I've driven plenty of Fords and Holdens from that era and the Leyland absolutely is a better car.

I do like the P76.  I believe it is a classic and much underrated in Australia.  After all, I've often been in my i30 and wanted to cart a 44 gallon drum to work in the hatch.  How I wish I had a P76 to do the job!   :whistler:

I reckon a 44 gallon drum would fit in the back of the i30 hatch with the seats folded! :D

That is about the only thing I didn't try to fit in when we were building our house  :whistler:
