I've never been a great fan of Top 10 Shootouts but todays was epic.
The hot laps of the top 4 or 5 cars were awesome to watch.
Three of them were on two wheels through the blind crest of Skyline.
And lieterally thousandths of a second between some of the times.
Winterbottom and Whincup were unreal.

i watch the top ten too Trev & agree.
interesting to note the top ten all used two valves per cylinder push rod V8, Ebus & Nismo both use 4 valve V8's

I miss Bathurst.  We camped there two years in a row (2010 and 2011) for the race.  It is a fantastic event, and where we were camping, very family friendly.

that's for sure Rusty, the 4 valve motors need high revs, the V8's only rev to around 8k but rev higher than back in old day's as they have a better valve train set up.
the 4 valve seem to need forced induction to work.

I wonder what 4v are like on the straight, it's all about breathing large amounts of air

Phil i would expect the 4v to make same power as they try to keep parity. but would expect the 2v to have more Torque at lower rev. so if weight is same power is same it would just come down to aro dynamics as to who or what one goes faster in straight. have to watch race. if no one has bad luck it should be a great race.
i think the reason the 2v would have better Torque would be in the single exhaust valve, if the 4v where 3v might be different but you need to see the Flow test #'s to really know.

Just shows how good my tipping ability is.
Check above re my comments about Frosty.

Good luck to him. It was a great win under extremely difficult and challenging circumstances with 4 pr 5 top contenders nipping at his heels for the last 25 or so laps.

Also good to see Ford back on top of the Mountain.

Yeah John, how good would it be to see Rossi & Co fanging round there.... :goodjob:  :happydance:

Never gonna happen of course....way too dangerous!    :Pout:
I'd love to see them take the bikes to the Mountain,at least with the smaller vehicle you may actually see some adventurous passing, what I seen this year bit of a pussy fest(mind you I didn't watch it all)

I feel the same the cars don't try to pass, but thats probably up to team manager or what ever. but at the end Wincup did try very hard to pass Winterbottom and he almost lost it, he lost a lot of ground to that move too but it was that or just be a good follower not a leader
but Loudes made a good pass he went past two at once they had been dicing for a few laps.
Bikes might not race now but Forrest Elbow was named after a bike racer. not even Peter Brock has part  of track named after him.
