Ban HGV's  :fum:

 :juststopthere: :Dunno:

How do you get goods into the shops if you do that?

Sure smaller trucks with more journeys, but that simply adds to the congestion and pollution whilst driving pricing even higher.

I think education of all and PROPER penalty for infringement by ANY road user is the solution

I don't think you've been paying 100% attention Brian. Those chocolate bikkies are quite a distraction, now you've mentioned the caramel ones too.

We have stickers over here, which simply say "Without Truckies,Australia Stops" people can't see the simplicity of this statement, along with everyone who has a job, without trucks, you wouldn't be sitting on your couch, with your laptop on your lap,or just finishing you evening meal,or evening sitting in your house, without trucks you would have stuff all.

Yet we are abused for going to slow,or for blocking the road to back into a loading dock at your local electrical shop to deliver the goods you may well want to buy,we are sworn at,cut off, spat at,given the bird, sometimes physically abused, simply for doing our job.

Some one years ago,did a simulation,if every truck driver and delivery driver in Australia, stopped work or all took a vacation for a whole month, food would run out within weeks, disease would be on the rise within that month as no rubbish would be collected and disposed of.

Yes we're just the lowlife's that cause you a nuisance on the roads

Rick, you're right of course. I just drove from the Sunshine Coast to Darwin in 3½ days and the trucks, especially the road trains were fine.

However, you also have semi drivers who do what the guy did when my wife was driving to Brisbane on Thursday to pick me up. 80kph roadworks (which have been there now for some weeks) and everyone slows down properly except the semi driver who just kept going at 100+kph. In the end he had to swerve violently to avoid the vehicles in front of him.
Yes, without trucks, Australia stops.
But as the pilots of massive juggernauts, they have a great responsibility to other road users.
