My job is pretty safe.  Nobody, particularly the Unions, wants to be flown by anything other than a real person.

The Unions of the workers that we fly out to the rigs are very powerful, they decide on the type of helicopter, how old it is, who flies it, etc.  Sometimes they can be a bit unrealistic though.  For example, they want a brand new aircraft type to ferry their workers, but they require the pilot to have 500 hours experience on type.  How can you have experience on an aircraft that nobody has flown before?  That type of experience would take about three years of regular flying to achieve.
