Hi all

I have some fw1 cleaning wax left over from my old car that I once purchased after being harassed in a car park. A lot of reviews are against this waterless style cleaning. I never used it to actually was my old car but would polish the car with afterwards. To be honest the car came up very nice and held it's shine for weeks regardless of rain or shine.

I've been using it these last few days to spot clean my 5 day old i30. Nothing serious just bugs and black tyre marks up the side from the new tyres.

What are everyone's thoughts on this product?  Bad for your car long term? As I said - it really made my old car shine and I used it maybe once every 5 months after a proper clean. Never saw any evidence of scratches, wear and tear of paint work or damage. I also found that it cut and polished light scratches out.

Cheers
Rob

I have used several waterless wash products including that one..I reckon FW1 is the best (but is also one of the dearest)

I alternate between water and waterless and haven't noticed any scratching or anything... :victory:

I can't comment because I've never used waterless.
I just didn't like the idea of it.

I actually just cleaned my car today with megiaurs wash and wax waterless wash but it was only dirty from driving on a dusty dirt road. The car came up really good, very shinny! I would never replace a traditional 2 bucket wash with a waterless tho.

It got cheap for a while (to clear stocks of some brands because they weren't sell) "Polyglaze" was one I got that wasn't bad..

Now it is scarce with limited choices and the price has gone back up.. So I mostly use water now.  :undecided:

I always thought that waterless would cause scratching by the fact that the dust is not washed off. That said, if you have a dirty sponge, you are doing the same thing.

Waterless wash had additives that lift the grime. They are sort of lubricants I think, like most detergents. I will try and find a link to something that explains it better than I can!

Rob I know the fw1 you are talking about.. I have two of those at home..

On my Mazda I use it after washing the car by running it on with one cloth then polishing it with another one and it comes up really nice and very easy to apply..

Not sure if I should use it on my i30.. Does anyone have any thoughts? I never use it before washing it thou and I have now started using the two bucket method which makes sense..

So I think using the two bucket, with high quality car wash soap with detailed, chamois, then this fw1 wax might be the way to go.. Would love to hear other peoples thoughts!!

I keep the waterless waxes in the boot with a couple of microfibres, really handy for getting rid of emu lime when it lands on your pride and joy away from home. :goodjob:

I personally wouldnt use it without washing it first... but yes that is handy as an emergency when needed - good idea.

The idea of using it after the wash, detail and chamois - really brings out the reflection very well.

Looks like the next wash will involve some FW1 and once completed and washed will post some photos :)

I have looked at some reviews on FW1 and there are alot of negative reviews - saying that it will rip the paint off after time...

any comments ???

Before I go and use it by the bucket load :)

Many on here wouldn't use it but my experience of it is nothing but positive. Infact, I have bookmarked their Aussie site (I can get 7 cans and a heap of other goodies for $200) :happydance: One of the cans is a bonus..

I'm a convert to waterless wash/wax. Not for the whole car, mind. Just the interior door sills and as a bug-remover on the bonnet.

I use a diluted citrus APC for bugs and the door sills/shuts, the citrus breaks down grease from the hinges, mechanisms and bugs really well.  Then a squirt of waterless wax in the door areas makes them easier to keep clean afterwards :goodjob:

Dazzler and Shambles you pushed me over the line - this weekend I will be using the FW1 on the door sills and maybe on the outside of the car after washing.. will see how game I am for the whole body...

I wonder at what point I will stop washing the car every weekend :)

Cheers.

I have the complete kit in the garage.
I bought it in a moment of weakness.
I've been reluctant to us it though.
I might have to revisit it.
