The NBN guys were in the street today. We should have access shortly I hope. Adjoining areas have fttp and I hope that's what we get also.

I was reasonably happy with our 16Mbit/s ADSL2 arrangement, until the local tech allowed me to order fttc (but still restricted by cttp) and I'm pulling 86Mbit/s, which is rather quick.

Good luck - your fttp should be better :)

We currently have a cable service which has been fast and reliable. I expect the move to fibre will remove the occasional reliability issue that occurs when the pit fills up with water. With the network configured as it is there is sufficient capacity to easily download quickly (up to a sustained 2MB/s which is not bad and bursting to 3MB/s ) and still use the phones without issues (phones are on their own vlan). New plans provide for 100Mbps down and 40 up which should be interesting. Bring it on.

Looking at the available plans, it looks like I can get more compared to what I am paying now which will be nice. This iinet plan looks particularly good: http://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Providers/iiNet/NBN-Tier-5/iiNet-NBN-3-Fastest?modem=BYO-Modem&contract=24

We have the NBN running past the front of our house, but because we are on the "other side of the road" we have only been offered fixed wireless NBN.  Lucky for me I can see the tower from my house.  Not sure whether I will get it yet, which means I will.

That's the feeblest excuse ever on their part.
