A leading industry trade body, the Freight Transport Association, has convinced the Government to delay plans to abolish the paper counterpart to the driving licence until a suitable online system for checking a driver's credentials is in place.

It has now been announced that the removal of the counterpart to the driving licence will not go ahead on January 1 2015 as originally planned.

Well. ........... some anyway.
And some of them probably shouldn't.

No different down under.

Just think how much we'd save on road maintenance and new roads if we took most of the incompetent drivers off the road.
There'd be no traffic congestion either.

Why would they be worth anything as there must be thousands still lying around?  I have two of these from April 1967 to April 1973 and  April 1973 to April 1976.  These licences  were renewed every three years with a loose leaf update to stick in.  Must have had others prior to 1967, as I passed my test in 1956, and post 1976 until the photo card was issued in 1998.

I also have my wartime  National Registration Identity Card.

Especially if you title it "Rare and highly collectible Canvas Licence"...  :whistler: :victory:

... and the money you get might nearly cover the legal costs trying to undo the damage they cause using your personal details to create a false identity...  :snigger:

Occurred to me,  too, Dazz.
BTW. We've had photo licenses in Qld since IIRC the late 1980's.

The only thing my paper counterpart has been used for in the last decade has been to write my speeding points on  :blubber:

Photo part is invaluable, as I fly around the UK a lot it saves taking passport.

You can have weight loss from porn, just a matter of how active you are. :whistler:
