I have just taken delivery. Of a 2011 Mk1 I30 Hatch with 17k miles. It was supplied complete with a noisy suspension clunak! Only hear it on slightly bumpy roads or over sleeping policeman. It appears to be a common problem but everyone seems to have a different diagnosis. Can anyone tell if Hyundai have come up with a warrenty fix please.

I also have this issue that I picked up a few weeks go - I assumed it is probably the wishbone assembly. Pardon my ignorance but what are droplinks?

Having never owned a front wheel drive car these things are still new to me!

I'm no suspension expert, but I think they are small vertical rods mounted in rubber bushes. When the bushes wear, that's when the knock appears. Not difficult to fix, from memory.

Thanks for the advice on the DropLinks, this didnt surface on my research. Following research all day yesterday on all available forumsi it seems that there are two possible causes. Overly long bump stops which are now being reduced from 75mm length to 55mm length, (a Tech Service Bulletin is available on this) ofr a dropped shock absorber dust cover and shroud ( which should stay in the supported position when the wheels drop down (car on ramp but off its wheels) the dust cover should be tight up to the cap on top of the spring and stay there.
Can anyone tell me where I can find Tech Serv Bulletins online if I have the reference?

For a creak do a google search for TSB HFE10-21-P060-HDFD
For a thump the TSB is HFE09-21-P261-HDFD
The thump is alegedly caused by the 75mm bump stops which can be reduced to 55mm. Also the front suspension boots/covers drop down from the top cap where they should stay and this can cause noises.
Hope this helps. Now all I need is a Warrenty ref to get mine fixed!

Mine (a 2010 facelift) has had these boots refitted and glued back on every year of its life so far, under warranty.  In my experience the clonk from these covers only happens in cold weather - probably about freezing or colder.  I also had a clonk from rear that was put down to a sticky rear caliper - sounded unfearsible but noise hasnt returned after brake serviced.
