[L30N]

Hi has anyone removed the rear bumper of their i30 hatch, and if so is it difficult? I have a reversing camera that came with a GPS I bought 6 months ago but haven't got round to fitting. It mounts below the rear number plate and requires wiring into the reversing light, but I have had no luck trying to feed the wire through the gap behind the number plate to where I need it to go. The thought of taking such a large bumper off seems a bit daunting to a novice like me. It's times like this that a good old Haynes manual would be handy.

When I looked it seemed staright forward.

Remove a few screws and odds and bits and off it comes.

May require 2 people so 1 can hold the bumber as you loosen it.

It's pretty easy L30N - just a few scrivets and screws and it comes off. eye is right, it's easier with a helper, but it can be  done solo. Just make sure you put down a nice soft sheet or blanket underneath the car so that you don't scratch the bar when you get it off.

And if you haven't had a plastic bumper off a car before, try not to bend it too severely. If you flex it TOO far the paint will crack. Don't panic about that, it won't happen unless you bend it way too far, and the flex you will get by holding it in one place won't cause that problem, but don't lean on it or fall over on it or anything like that.
