The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has recently taken action against Kia for misleading consumers in relation to capped price servicing.  Hyundai are doing the very same.  In their terms and conditions they reserve the right to change the price at any time.  That can hardly mean it's capped!  This is what Kia were taken to task for by the ACCC.  See :link: ACCC takes action on Kia capped price servicing | ACCC   I'm sure Hyundai are reviewing their terms and conditions, because KIA have had to honor the capped price based on when the vehicle was bought!!

Only thing capped priced servicing means(as Hyundai has had it for years) is they have set prices for different service periods, e.g. optional intermediate service $260, 15,000K service $500 and so on and so on, go and ask for the price of their Capped price 90,000 K service, you'll be blown away.
most people think capped price servicing means that ALL services are the same price, sorry that IS NOT the case

A couple of weeks ago I got a letter from Kia notifying me of the changes to the CPS conditions for my Cerato.

The prices are now:
1 yr/15k : $271
2 yr/30k : $344
3 yr/45k : $324
4 yr/60K : $475
5 yr/75k : $302
6 yr/90K : $457
7 yr/105k : $336

My actual 1yr service cost around $190, but I supplied oil and filter.

Doesn't capped mean - the max price you will pay.

It could be less but i doubt whether it is as the garage will ensure the cost of individual items add up to the capped price.

Certainly is capped price for Mr's i-30 petrol. (Gympie Qld)
$199 plus GST, around $219.
Been exactly the same for over 2-years (approx 60,000k) but on the last service they did make a mistake and charged her the "normal" price of $340.
Questioned that and they were all apologies with an instant refund.
The advertising at the time of purchase was unambiguous, the most she'd ever pay for servicing (during the warranty period) was $199.

AFAIK there are two levels of Hyundai capped price servicing.

The first was introduced about August or September 2012 just as my daughter bought her Accent. It covered each current model and only applied if you bought after its introduction. IIRC hers is $189. I think the i30 was in the low 200s ($219 sounds about right as crayman says).
I'd need to check her documentation but I thought it was only for the first 3 years - but could well be 5.

Later, they introduced CPS for all their models even previous ones. These prices are dearer but I didn't go into them in detail. However, they apply for the life of the car. Existing holder of the original CPS deal stayed on it until the end of the 3 (or 5) year deal then switch over to the newer prices.

BTW. Note the difference in meaning between "Capped" and "Fixed".

My 2014 i30 is approaching it's first birthday and the dealer sent me a postal
reminder to book a service.

I recall reading in a Hyundai Press Release that although fixed price servicing costs were to rise with the extension of the period for which FPS applied from three years to five years (introduced in the latter part of 2014) the price would remain for three years or 45,000km and then increase to the newer "fixed price".

I phoned the Hyundai customer care line who confirmed that this was the case for my vehicle.
