Hi all, I'm new here, my name is Kate. Today I bought a second hand i30, it is a 2011 model trophy hatchback auto and I quite like it so far :) I have paired my Samsung phone with it and calls come through via bluetooth and music can play too, however I can't figure out how to import the phone contacts. If anyone knows the secret please tell me about it. There is nothing in the car manual about bluetooth at all which is weird. Cheers, Kate

Hi Kate, welcome to the club :D

I thought the import happened automagically - it sure did on my 3 Android phones. Which model Samsung is it?

Do you have a lot of contacts (over 1000) ?

:welcome: Kate, My wife hasn't bothered pairing her phone via bluetooth (although hers is a newer model, so could be different anyway)

What Steve is alluding to is that over 1000 contacts can cause issues.

Please be patient for replies, some members don't visit as often as I do (they have to work)  :P

Kate,I have had my 2011 since new and have never worked out how to download the contacts, the only thing I haven't tried and each time I read the book you have to download them while the phone is connected via a cable in the armrest glove box where the USB fitting and Ipod plug.

I still haven't tried it yet but will get round to it one day(can't rush these things),I really only need a few numbers in the car so I have done it manually.

Welcome.

I have the contacts.

You will find within the set up pbook i think, number 2.

Press 2 and it should provide a further request.

I'll check later when the rain goes off.

As Steve says the contacts should download automatically and should also check for changes each time the phone is connected, both my iPhone and my wifes Samsung Galaxy have their phonebooks available and the comtact downloads were by Bluetooth ie no cables.

Anyone who had the FD-01 head unit will know download contacts just doesn't work.

I have manually put the names and numbers of the people I call at the time. Works perfectly.

Once you've added the names and numbers manually all you need to do is press the phone book button, press buttons between 1-6 (I separated my contacts into family on 1, friends on 2 and so on... then you just scroll through with the right knob.

hope that makes some sense.

I had a Sony Ericcsson phone while playing music and accepting calls but the contacts were not compatible and the system told me this so I couldn't use them. My latest Android Huawei 330 is and the car system did this automatically on pairing.

How do we determine which one this is?

Mine's a late 2011 model. It has a supplement manual for the radio, as if it's an after thought or something.

I've had problems importing contacts from both a Samsung Galaxy S2 and iPhones 4S, 5S and 6+.

In the end I don't bother trying to make calls. If it's that important I'll pull over somewhere and do it. Otherwise it can wait til I get to where I'm going.

Anyway, welcome Kate.

Hey Kate,

You can tell by the model number printed on the left of the headunit, above the CD insert it should say FD-01

It will only be that headunit if it is a factory one as this was the only unit that had Bluetooth.

I never got the supplement manual because I bought my headunit from the wreckers to replace the one that didnt have bluetooth.

Read through the manual and it should explain how to manually put the numbers into the unit.

Once in they are always there unless your battery goes flat.

I find it works perfectly doing it this way. You dont need to touch your phone at all.
