Islington charges diesel drivers extra £96 annual parking permit fee from today | Daily Mail OnlineThe row follows a boom in diesel cars which until recently were actively encouraged by the EU, UK Governments, politicians and experts because they give better fuel economy and lower emissions of CO2, the so-called 'greenhouse gas' which environmentalists blame for global warming.
But now a U-turn is taking place, as campaigners argue that diesels have a more harmful effect on air quality leading to debilitating and fatal respiratory problems.
