No surprises there; the VW group of TDI engines are superb in every way. While I am not a fan of VW in general, I have great respect for their engine and powertrain technology and their durability.

Such a pity the VW products are the most hijacked ones in South Africa, otherwise I would maybe consider buying one. This not only from a safety point of view but insurance premiums are more or less double what every other vehicle on the road is.

Surprising to see the Mazda there though, I would have expected a hat trick from VAG in the towing dept.

I suspect here in Australia we wouldn't even see one VW in the top ten of tow vehicles...  :undecided:

How do you expect Hyundai to win anything in this game...? They don't offer a powerfull engine in either the i30 or i40...  :disapp:

The Skoda Octavia have 2,0 TDI: 150 HP / 320 Nm @ 1750-3000 revs

The i30  have 110 HP / 280 Nm (300 Nm if DCT) @ 1500-3000 revs ( a 136 HP is on it's way but no more torque..! )

--------------------------0---------------------------------

The VW Passat have 150 HP / 340 Nm @ 1750-3000 revs

The i40 have 136 HP / 325 Nm @ 2000-2500 revs

--------------------------0---------------------------------

The i40 is close to the Passat but look at how small a rev-range the i40 have max torque compared to the Passat.

I love my Hyundai, but it's sad Hyundai don't offer competitive engines, powerwise.

No way I'd trust a VW to tow anything! See too many of them on the side of the road or on topw trucks
