Hi everyone!

I've tried looking for some topic related with my issue in this forum but I couldn't find anything, so my apologies if there was something about it already.

The problem that I have is that the wipers of my i30 which clean mainly well since they're not too old, make small jumps or hops (I hope you understand what I mean) while cleaning the windshield, and I'm not too sure wether it's a problem with the windshield, the wipers or the wipers arms system.

So I came here to see if somebody could help by telling me any solutions or ways to make this loudy and annoying problem disappear.

Thank you very much!

Are they twin blade wipers? they're the only one's that have skipped for me, solved by reverting to single blade wipers.

Does this happen

when the screen is dry?
So blade sweeping across with no moisture to remove

When the screen is wet and if so how wet?
Really wet, fairly wet, nearerly dry.  Please say.

On warm or cold days?

Dusty screen prior to screen wash being applied?

Or every time!

Cheers

Welcome

Pull the wipers away from the windscreen and turn on the wiper system to observe the travel; if it's a smooth run then it's blade or glass related.

Do they jump when they're switched to fast wipe?

I'm not too sure but I think thy're just single blade wipers. The brand is "hella".

They jump at any speed, mainly on the way up.

The less water the blades have to remove, the more jumps they make. If I jet water towards the windshield, the first move of the wipers, in which there isn't any water yet, it makes very bad and loudy jumps, but after the windshield is wet with this special water it makes a lot less jumps, but still noticeable. So im going to say it makes less jumps when there is a larger amount of water, but it still makes this jumps. When the whole thing is very wet and the rubber is not dry it tends to reduce the jumps, but its very rare when they completely dissapear.

Thank you all for such a fast answers. This has been a very warmth welcome to this forum.

Without actually seeing them, not sure of their age, given your location  i wonder whether the rubber has dried and become hard so lost it's flexibility.

Hella make many types/styles of wiper blades, easiest way to check is lift one of the wipers and see if it has a twin edge or single edge that wipes the window.

Another thing to ask! do you use wax on the windshield? you could give the window a wipe with methylated spirits and see if it cures the skipping.

I'm not too sure which similar product could I find here to that one you're saying, but I'll make a research. I believe every time I take it to the carwash it gets some wax finnish, do you think this could be the problem?

 thank you!

Wax on glass is a big no-no. Wash the glass with a vinegar-based product (maybe even a vinegar solution) to clear it off.

I had a slight problem with my wipers juddering on the glass in certain circumstances but new blades sorted it out in my case.  I have nothing else to offer to you, good luck.   :goodjob:

:welcome: I think all options have been covered. I have had to replace blades on other non Hyundai cars in less than 12 months, so if all else fails try new ones (but definitely try a vinegar or "metho" clean first)

How old are the wipers?

They're like 1 year old, but i don't think they're old enough to be replaced because they clean fairly well while not jumping. The thing is that the ones I had before lasted almost 3 years, and they wouln'd make any noises and cleaned well.

So I believe it has to be the dirt or wax or both creating some kind of layer which I have to take rid of.

Wax on glass is a big no-no. Wash the glass with a vinegar-based product (maybe even a vinegar solution) to clear it off.

Ill try with this before replacing the wipers and I'll say how it went.

I was concerned that it could be some problem with the motor system or something, but that part seems to work smoothly and as it should work.

Thank you all for the advices and help, I appreciate it.
