Outside the UK it appears the access to BBC videos is very slow or non-existent?

BBC vids cannot be streamed outside UK addresses. I should know, our works ISP is German and my firefox locks up if I try to view them

abc in Australia does the same thing - ex-pats are unable to view The Chaser's War on Everything, for example.
