Police hide secret cameras in tractor to catch speeding motorists

 Motorists in East Yorkshire have expressed anger after photos emerged purporting to show police officers with hand-held speed cameras hiding in tractors and horseboxes to catch offenders.

A spokesman for Humberside Police has confirmed that officers are using ‘unmarked vehicles’ covertly in an attempt to reduce the number of serious accidents on the B1253.

This is in spite of advice issued by the former Association of Chief Police Officers (now the National Police Chiefs Council) which stated: "Operators of devices should normally do so from positions where they will be clearly visible to the public."
