Hi guys .... looking for some help.... I have a 2013 tourer.... and on Tuesday I got into my car and turned on the ignition. .. only for my abs and traction control lights to stay on....so turned the engine off and restarted it and they where still on..... so drove for 5 mins and tried again and tried again ... but now my speedometer had stopped working. .. so drove and tried again and every thing was working ok.... but every day since then my abs and traction control lights are coming on an off intermittently. . Mostly  staying on....I've tried an obd2  and it can't find any faults.... climbing the walls trying to figure out what's wrong. . Also tried cleaning all the abs sensors... but no joy. ... don't want to send it to hyundai  coz they will only pull my trousers down :-[ :-[... oh almost forgot to say that in the past week I've drove through a few puddles coz of the bad weather. ... so any ideas would be great.  And if anyone can tell a specific diagnostic tool I have to use... that would be great to ... cheers Graham. .

Hi Grazer74 and welcome to the forum.

Have you spoken with a dealership (as the vehicle should be within warranty) and have they said something to make you feel this way?

Welcome Grazer74,

Could be something as simple as odd tyre pressures. Check all tyres are inflated to the same or very similar (say 36 PSI)

If that is not the issue you could try resetting the ECU/BCM by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for at least 30 minutes...

Was it bought as private or business purchase?

The service book stipulates the warranty conditions, miles etc, depending on purchase so check that out.

At 77,000 miles you should be within warranty coverage even for a taxi:

"Vehicles used for taxi or private hire uses are covered by a five year, 100,000 mile warranty. Warranty cover excludes fair wear and tear."

If you do visit a dealer, you could check that they aren't going to charge you to just look into the problem. That assumes our forum experts don't resolve the problem for you.

I forget the procedure, but it is on here somewhere,  I think.

These days, any wheel aligner worth his salt has the software to recalibrate the steering angle sensor. If he doesn't go elsewhere.

I am assuming you have stuck to the service schedule - if you haven't had it done by a Hyundai service center and do decide to have a Hyundai have a look to see if warranty issue - you might also want to get them to check for any other service campaigns... there have been a couple (I think there maybe a MDPS - i.e. EPS - that is applied to a number of i30... exact date range seems to be unclear).

As for the issue - first thought was the indicated systems were in a fault mode (lights on continuously per manual), but there probably should have been codes via. OBDII (esp. if lights were on during reading).

The speedo not working, at least once, is interesting but could be related - AFAIK it is a 'digital' gauge... i.e. data from a sensor which is then converted to movement on a gauge - in each case the issue could be because data isn't getting through.  Potentially your puddles might be a cause or be unrelated.   If it is a sensor issue the fact the abs/traction control lights were first separate to speedo would indicate at least two sensors, or connections, are affected.   It could also be some kind of bad contact issue or grounding issue that is causing erroneous indications - but probably it would have caused it other issue/indications as well.
